Application Details

I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Aéropostale in August 2014.

Interview Details

I went into aero one day to see if they were hiring and the lady asked how old I was and I said "16" and she said yeah here's an application but first I'm going to let you read the policy of how you're supposed to dress if you were to work here. So I agreed and then I turned in my application about a week later and so happened I turned it to the manager and then she asked me some questions like "what are some words your friends would describe you?" "Any extracurricular activities?" Etc and she said I'd have a group interview in 2 weeks. And to bring 2 letters of recommendation. So now I'm waiting to go into my first interview (:

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days - interviewed at Aéropostale.

I was told to come as casual as i wanted to the interview. The interview itself was extremely laid back and it seemed as if i was talking to a couple of my friends. About half of the management team sat in on the interview as well as myself and a couple of other potentials.

Very relaxed process which consisted of only one group interview. The people that were hired from the group interview were the most outgoing and had the most thoughtful answers. Do not rush into answering the question--put some thought into it first.

It was an hour long interview. Questions can be hard if you are new to retail. It is easy if you already have experience. Questions are pretty normal and easy to answer. The manager was really nice to me

I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Aéropostale in June 2012.

    Interview Details

The interview was a group interview. I had it in the bag. The other girls were shy. I was the most talkative and outspoken one there. I got a call back a week later saying i got the job. Went in to fill out all my paperwork, it's a lot of paperwork. Hardly got any training but i caught on quick. It's not that hard to fold clothes. The cash register training was easy as well.

I applied in-person. The process took a day - interviewed at Aéropostale in April 2012.

    Interview Details

I have been looking for a job for a while and Aeropostale seemed ideal since I am 16 and would feel comfortable in their atmosphere. I went in and asked for an application, filled it out then and there and handed it back. A little over a week later I called back to follow up and the manager looked through all the applications he got, found mine, and said to come in the following day for an interview. When I went into the store for the interview and asked to meet the manager I was told would be interviewing me, he actually was not aware that the interview was set up because apparently he was not informed. He took me to the front of the store where there was a spot for me to write and I filled out some paper work. Next he asked me a few general questions about myself and my work ethic. Next he asked to describe three characteristics of myself which I did. He then continued to tell me about the different zones of the store, how its encouraged for employees to wear Aero clothing, etc. After more brief talking she actually said right there, well I would actually like to offer you the job! I accepted and was told that if I could get my working permits in by the next week I would be able to attend orientation. The employer interviewing me was very nice and everyone there seemed to genuinely like each other. Two days later when I came in with my work paper I handed them into a different manager who was working at the time and he was absolutely wonderful. He made a few funny jokes and commented on who he had heard great things about me. The atmosphere presented has made me excited to start my work!

Side note: though I had a one-one interview, I have known girls who had a group interview with up to six others applying for the job,I am not sure what distinguishes whether you get a one-on-one interview or not.

I did not negotiate my $8/hr salary because I have no retail experience and am still a minor, therefore I felt minimum wage was acceptable.
