Current Employee – been working at American Cancer Society full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Company allows schedule flexibility and encourages professional development. Highly driven and innovative atmosphere.
Cons – Work can be intense - task-wise and emotionally due to the nature of the business. Some days/weeks are very long and stressful but staff are encouraged to find balance and recuperate.
Advice to Senior Management – Continue to celebrate successes and assess how we do business so we can continue giving the best support to those in need.

Current Employee – been working at American Cancer Society full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – ACS is transforming to become more agile and relevant. The mission inspires hard work and camaraderie. The people are dedicated and strive to improve themselves in this learning organization. There are many opportunities to get involved in one off projects to expand on your skills and gain exposure. There are excellent personal development programs including management and leadership development. Talent Strategy is a top notch team. .
Cons – Salary tends to be on the lower scale and there is high turnover in the field/fund raising positions which doesn't help with working with volunteers. There isn't a lot of opportunity for advancement which keeps your at the lower pay. Employees have either been there 20 plus years or less than 5. So the senior employees get stuck in old ways of doing work and this frustrates entry level staff ( although transformation should help with this)
Advice to Senior Management – Continue to improve the skills of your people managers as they are the key to success.

Pros – It was lots of fun to work with amazing people that try to continue forward and make huge changes in the way people view cancer

Current Employee – been working at American Cancer Society full-time for less than a year
Pros – They give 100% of the money the raise to research and patient service. Amazing events...you definitely need to attend one and see all the fundraising efforts behind it!
Cons – none at the moment..just wish they had more job openings
Advice to Senior Management – Please hire more people in your Queens and Manhattan offices...especially a special team to put on events on colleges, schools, conventions throughout the city, special events and more! I would love a full time job after my temp. assignment is over!

Former Employee – worked at American Cancer Society
Pros – The ACS was one of my favorite places to work. The staff you work with is great and the cause is meaningful. Obviously they can't pay you a lot because money has to go to the cause, but there is a great work life balance.
Cons – Technology can be improved, but they are working on it.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep doing a great job
