    nothing. you get yelled at, turned down, and made to feel like you are underperforming constantly.

    Cons

    DO NOT DO THIS INTERNSHIP IF YOU EXPECT TO HAVE A FUN SUMMER. THIS WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
    You will take home $200 a week, which will pay for the amount of gas you use to get around in a single week. You will essentially make nothing for sweating your butt off and getting denied from thousands of businesses. There is no real office. You must pick a location like Starbucks to meet at every morning and night and watch videos from the CEO. This is not beneficial to you solely because most days are spent walking around outside in your business clothes lying to businesses that the AroundCampus ads in the school planner and mobile app are beneficial for their business. That amount of money is out of reach for businesses that aren't intelligent enough to know that their money is best spent somewhere else. You will feel guilt for trying to convince business owners of this. The leaders are very aggressive and always blow up your phone. If your team is underperforming then they will come to your city more often and become forceful with you and business owners.
    Also, the training in North Carolina sounds like a fun time, but it was by far the worst week of my life. They make you stay up until 1am in the morning "practicing" your sales pitch and require you to be downstairs by 8am fully dressed and ready for endless hours in conference rooms. There is NO free time to go do anything, even go explore for dinner and night time activities.
    You cannot do this internship and school at the same time. You will not have any down time for a social life. When you get home from work, they expect you to email all the businesses that you visited that day, which can take up to another hour.
    Over half of the team I was on quit over the summer because they realized that the internship wasn't worth the blood, sweat and tears it is. You will not gain school credit for this internship either. Lines on your resume are more worth doing something else, BELIEVE ME.

    Learn to have confidence in going into different stores

    Cons

    Everything. Managers can be rude, and pressure interns. Instead of trying to create a learning enviornment where interns are learning, managers pressure them to sell.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop being so mean to interns. They are trying hard. Just because you made a ton of sales when you were an intern, does not mean that you can bully others. Stop making interns feel bad if they don't make a sale.

    Door to door sales, products are not good, app doesn't work, have you work some nights but don't get paid extra, pay is very low, lots of hours

    I worked for this company for two summers in their internship and yes companies do like the experience you get from the sales training and cold calling sales you do.

    Cons

    BEWARE OF THE INTERVIEW AND HIRING PROCESS!!! The regional manager will interview you promising the world and how great your life will be with this internship. THEY ARE SALES PEOPLE!!!! They do nothing else other than manage you in the summer and spend the rest of their time finding stupid people all other months of the year to do this internship and make ridiculous promises. The company makes all of its revenues during the summer on the backs of YOU! They send you to do a week long "sales training" in Chapel Hill but anyone with brains can see its just a pep rally to get you hooked into their scheming ways. They pay you $200/week and expect you to work 40 hours per week at least (do the math). They promise you commission but for the two summers I worked there were only a handful out of a hundred who actually had a chance to earn more than that $200. They base it on if they pay or not which you will find out when you get "renewals" that this company has a hard time getting their companies they scam to pay. They talk about how their platform is "top of the line". No, you ask companies for hundreds of dollars for a tiny ad in the back of a student planner that they can see no return from whatsoever. I was also in an organization who had to hand out the thousands of planners they promise to the businesses but that never happened. We would throw away boxes of those planners and still get paid by this company to "hand them out". After working their for two summers I can honestly say that they force their top sellers into doing these positive reviews. The pressure from top management during the summer is unbearable at times. If you want to work for basically nothing asking people for money all day then go ahead and get your "internship". They prey on people just looking for an "internship". If I can get just one person not to do it I would be able to sleep better at night.

    If you pay your people more then they would have more incentive to stay out all day selling and go to those stupid morning and afternoon meetings that accomplish nothing

    Pros

    I met some very nice students and worked with an amazing team. Really liked the training we got before the sales internship started.

    Cons

    My manager did not know much about my territory. I was in a "dangerous" environment, walking around and trying to sell. The territories were supposed to be divided evenly so everyone had a fair share, but they were not. It was extremely hot, we had no central location to meet and got parking tickets because we were downtown, very little assistance or aid after we started. I was never told we would be doing cold calls.....

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Definitely spend more time looking into the territories you are sending students out to. The pay is not enough for the time and dedication this job takes on a daily basis. Maybe have a regional manager work with students during the first week, or someone who has done the internship before and was successful. Try to keep moral up. The hardest part was making it through the hot summer days dealing with rude customers.

    Pros

    You get the opportunity to see a lot of businesses in your college community.
    If you know you want a career in sales, then this would probably be a good option for a summer internship.
    I realized what I don't want to do for a career.

    Cons

    This was the worst job I have ever had. The training did not prepare me whatsoever for the internship, and all they do is go on and on about how this is going to be the best summer job ever. The pay is horrible. I spent more on gas than what I made each week. The job description itself is fairly vague, and I had no idea of what I was actually doing until the first day of work. And the approach to selling is all wrong. They tell you to question the business owner and find out their needs, but they tell you to say the same thing to each owner, regardless of their specified needs. Also, the prices are ridiculously high for reaching such a narrow market. Most business owners will realize that this is a horrible way to actually reach the students and will (wisely) realize that this would be an utter waste of their money. I felt so sleazy the entire time I was trying to sell.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Tell your interns what they will actually be doing, and set realistic goals. Selling is based on catering to the customer, not throwing them a memorized pitch that doesn't even relate to the business' needs.

    Extremely misleading. They talk a fantastic game, but in reality the internship is extremely frustrating and feels as though students are being used in a fruitless environment.

    Training Program in Chapel Hill was awesome.
    Learn if sales is the place for you
    Decent first internship
    Management is very enthusiastic
    Paid internship
    Work as much or little as you want

    Cons

    Internship was supposed to end on August 11th we will be working well into the end of august because of our sales deadline
    Training felt like freshman orientation
    Pay is very minimal for amount of work you are supposed to put in
    You are basically there to do the dirty work for the company by making cold calls all day everyday

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Compensate the employees more. We are making under minimum wage. Tell us that there will be deals to be offered before they occur, or better yet let us know about all of the deals that will be offered in training.
