    Pros

    flexible working arrangement
    challenging work
you get hands on experience on a broad verities of areas as the operation in AUS is relatively small.

    Cons

    long hours
a lot of meetings happens out of business hours
prefer to hire outsiders over promotion within the company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

there should be a focus on develop talent within the company itself. At the moment the company does not have a culture of helping individual to develop and seek promotions. most vacant position prefer candidate from outside.

I worked at BT full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

It was a great place to be. The people are awesome and generally the opportunities to move are good. It's a very secure place to work

    Cons

Pay is nowhere near the market value. There's is no way to progress up in the company without significantly moving jobs, as most people don't leave ever they stay in the old way of in the job for 40 years. I felt I had to leave to get up in my career

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a good mix of Recruiting lower level managers externally and internally as the mix when right can be phenomenal

I worked at BT full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

My experience was that there was a flexible working environment with a very good work life balance. The compensation and benefits package was near industry average.

    Cons

I found that senior management, in most cases, paid lip service to personal development and there were very limited opportunities for personal growth and progression

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Really need to review individual opportunities for growth and development to retain top performers.

Training & development of employees is a key aspect for a company's success and it should be addressed.

I worked at BT full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Working from home is possible.

Ability to move around the business even abroad if you build internal networks.

Easy to stay and count the money if you are strong enough to adopt a certain mindset about getting into work and getting home and the possible repercussions of only working 9-5.

    Cons

Traditional long standing company that still does very well from the myth that all BT people are paid a small fortune. Some BT salaries and terms were super competitive until mid 90s. Release package payments are a fraction of what they used to be and it is becoming harder to get paid release.

BT is reknowned for badly practised performance management. BT and union comms are often contradictory on how the process is applied and the company is still not meeting it's targets for reducing its global head count.

Some of the people I still know at BT remain in small niche teams operating as 'mates' I.e. Vendor security and data analysis and they seem to be left alone but many are in larger platform teams (Adastral Park) often managed remotely from India or the US where the management are hard micro managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Difficult but to choose one I would say apply a better defined and transparent performance management system and keep promises on pay and bonuses.

I have been working at BT

    Pros

You get good money here as compared to the other companies in the market. There are less folks currently associated with the company so it is best time to join the company.

    Cons

Too much work with tough timelines.Work never ends here. There is no onsite opportunity in BT,all onsite opportunities are with the Vendors.Although being the client of vendors,it is vendors who are making more money at onsite.
