    Great place to work

Software Engineer - Intern (Former Employee) Sydney

ProsGoogle has a very open culture with fun people. Managers are understanding and supportive. The work is interesting.

ConsNo real cons that I can point out. Large projects mean you can feel like an insignificant cog in the machine.

    Great Place to Work!

Intern (Former Employee) Mountain View, CA (US)

ProsThe environment and culture are wonderful. There's free food and events. The company does interesting work. You fee like your work is relevant when you work here because of the nature of the company's work. The people are nice, smart, and down to earth.

ConsPeople are assigned a lot of work so you must be sure to do a good job balancing your workload. It's hard to get work done when you have so many awesome distractions like neat events to attend.

    Awesome place to work

Software Engineering Intern (Former Employee) Taipei (Taiwan)

ProsThe opportunity to work at Google would make people envy of you. And you get a lot of benefits there: free snacks, great view of Taipei city, flexible work hours. The tools and documents are well-established and you can get to real work smoothly. The pay is also pretty high. The people there are nice and very skillful, and most importantly, they enjoy their work.

ConsBecause there are relatively few interns, and each of them is assigned to a different team, it's harder to know others. This could reduce your sense of security. No special activities for interns. And as they expect you to be a very good developer, the guidance they give you was relatively few.

    Perfect experience

Quantitative Analyst Intern (Current Employee) Mountain View, CA (US)

Pros1. There are rich resources for internal training.
    2. Flexible time and nice work/life balance.
    3. Generous payment and relocation stipend.
    4. Gorgeous people to work and interact at work.
    5. Google holds internal weekly meetings to share the most recent progress in various teams.

ConsAs the company is too big, it takes more time to learn about the different opportunities on a higher level. Typical projects have narrow focuses and it is hard to learn what everybody else is doing in the team.

    Dynamic and difficult

Intern (Former Employee) San Antonio, TX (US)

Prosthe offices inspire creativity. most importantly the executives are easily available and this allows for great insight on current projects.

Consone of the big issues was the lack of flexibility. it is very difficult if almost impossible to get a few days off to travel ext..

    BOLD Intern

BOLD Intern (Current Employee) Mountain View, CA (US)

ProsGreat benefits, incredible culture, hard-working peers, and great opportunities to grow professionally. The environment promotes teamwork and support rather than competition and sabotage which is great.

ConsGoogle is not immune to office politics. Many people are invested in their own responsibilities and projects that it becomes difficult to ensure that you are receiving the necessary and training for your own job. Also, mobility is more common horizontally rather than vertically.

    A stimulating summer experience

Software Engineer Intern (Former Employee) Mountain View, CA (US)

ProsEveryone's very bright and hardworking, but everyone knows this already. More important, the Google culture is one of openness. Many docs are publicly visible, so you can learn about other projects in the company, and people enjoy talking about what they're working on.

ConsThis varies significantly by location, but some workspaces are very tightly crammed, with people sitting side-by-side in long tables. This is a distracting and unpleasant work environment. It's like being in an industrial chicken coop. Engineers need quiet!

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
