    I was a software engineering intern that had a great time but didn't necessarily learn that much

    Pros

    Culture, work environment, pay, benefits -- everything was generally pretty great. As far as work places go, there's not much to complain about.

    Cons

    Intern projects aren't always completely fleshed out, so in the case of what I worked on, it was very scattered and not terribly cohesive. The stuff I worked on, as well as what my team did in general, might've ended up just getting scrapped.

    Pros

    This company is exceptional because it realizes the true value of human capital. Employees are treated well, encouraged to grow in their profession and experience work on projects outside of their normal expertise.

    Working at Google is also an exceptional resume item, and regarded very highly by other employees (if you ever decide to leave)

    Cons

    I cannot think of any whatsoever. This company is superlative in every way. If I absolutely had to come up with a con, I would say that the worst part of working at Google is the innate guilt I experience when others talk about their jobs and then ask about mine. It is hard to have to explain to others how amazing a workplace Google provides, and to witness the incredulous looks others give.

    (To explain why I am no longer working at Google - I simply left for another opportunity in a different area that Google does have, but I would love to one day return.)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Continue to maintain the learning, growing, employee-first culture that makes Google such an amazing professional environment.

    Pros

    Amazing place to work! It has great benefits even for interns, and it's easy to make big impacts.

    Cons

    There aren't that many downsides. Google is just kind of big, but they are really good for a big company.

    Pros

    Smart people. The food is great. You get to work on projects of immense scale. The pay is great. There is a lot of glamour that comes with the job. People are impressed when they hear that you work for Google.

    Cons

    Google is in a state of denial regarding its bureaucracy. It is a huge company and it should accept that fact to fix inefficiencies. A couple of VPs are obviously more interested in politics than in the greater good. The playful, smart company with "don't be evil" as a motto is a vision that has cleary disappeared. Google is no different than any other big company and they are starting to realize it.

    Former Employee - Software Engineering Intern (Graduate Student) in Mountain View, CA (US)

    Pros

    superb environment and facilities;
    great support to employees, such as workstation setup, ergonomic support, and experiment facilities training and support;
    various opportunities for life-long learning;
    good practices learned through the internship has a long-lasting effect on my further development;

    Cons

    All interns are talented but some might be too young to keep to socially acceptable conduct on and off the Google campus.

    This year, some of my fellow interns have made a mess in the company-provided accommodation (which is btw an awesome flat with other friendly residents), and our neighbors are quite upset about the misbehaviors by my fellow interns.

    I hope that Google can put more weight on overall personally in their candidate selection process.
