    Pros

Co-workers mostly good people. Some were very helpfull and honest.

    Cons

Some bosses are micro-managers, some are so negative they should be a Negative Rod in a Power Plant. No honesty and Corruption in the hiring process. Do not recommend to work under Architects in that firm. If you are friends with the right bosses you can be promoted. Promotions are not done based on Merit and Schooling.

    Advice to Management

Clean the House, Leave and let other people with Integrity take the lead.

    Pros

Great co-workers, great health care, decent time off policy, compensation was above average

    Cons

Leadership in technology division is out of touch and arrogant, excessive turnover within the department without HR taking action after repeated reports into the Integrity hotline regarding management

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Review the turnover within Technology and hire a third party to do an investigation to get a neutral opinion on what's reality.

    Pros

Fantastic people; a company full of many dedicated and talented engineers. Good benefits and pay. Good location and good work/life balance.

    Cons

Sr. Leadership (Hammond and Yarossi) have taken HNTB great places, but time to hire experienced new leadership and step aside.
No bonus program a solid negative. Base pay is good, but comparable to other firms who also offer bonus programs.
    Time on job requirements.
Turnover in HR / recruiting and other areas of HR is a joke.

    Advice to Management

    Please see cons.

    Pros

Gets your foot in the door if you are just starting out.

    Cons

Certain offices are unprofessional, lazy, and have a boys fraternity environment.

    Advice to Management

Crack the whip on some office managers and be more transparent with the company. Each year they push their earnings forward resulting in a HUGE loss in company stock. It costs employees tens of thousands of dollars. Stop focusing on Time on job. You are obsessed.

    Pros

The pay is pretty good. Most of the people working on projects are dedicated, passionate, intelligent people and are great to work with. Some managers offer a lot of autonomy and flex time but others are really strict about 8-5. It just depends. Benefits are solid for the industry.

    Cons

Management has done an awful job of leading the firm through financial difficulty. They'll try something for a quarter or two and if it doesn't yield immediate, unattainable, positive results it's another round of layoffs or reorganization or "changing strategies." Internal systems are antiquated as is the geographical organization of the company. Upper management lives in an echo chamber surrounded by "yes men." There is no vision, no transparency.

    Pros

Salary and benefits are excellent, but justify how they treat staff

    Cons

Know that despite all the talk about "investing" in you, your department, new lines of business, long term growth, another 100 years...the second your utilization is off by a percent or two, there are calls being made and spreadsheets on the most "efficient" way to let you go.

Horrible PMs whose projects did not make money were allowed to run free all over the country, spending both client and project money, resulting on a loss that will be magically covered bc they are part of the "good old boy's club".

    Advice to Management

The executive management team only cares about making themselves money in the present and stock price, who cares if they ruin in for future generations. Retire and let new blood take over. How many millions do you need when you are already so old.

    Pros

Great pay and decent benefits. In billable times, diverse projects with valuable clients. Reputable track record of success winning projects.

    Cons

Mismanagement throughout company. No leadership from the top down. Don't expect to garner support from management unless it's directly related to profit.

    Advice to Management

Any advice would fall on deaf ears

    Pros

Good benefits (Healthcare, 401K plan) and good diversity of work. For those that like to travel, many jobs are all over the country and the opportunity to see interesesting places while working is there.

    Cons

The biggest short coming of this company, in my opinion is it's lack of loyalty to the employee. Also there was very little training offered over the years I was employed by the company.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees because at the end of the day the employees are the ones that built the company. The reputation of the company has declined, I hear it on the streets.

    Pros

Extensive project list in multiple disciplines with extensive international projects, especially Bridges/Highways.

Office culture lacking, at least in our department.

    Cons

After 14 years of service I was laid off, it happens to the best of us right? Unfortunately our manager offered no severance, none, nothing. I walked out with my 401K and nothing else.

Our department never promoted from within and suffered from fractured. Biased treatment based not on quality of work but who you knew.

I loved the history of the firm and the work they did, it is unfortunate that some department leaders can ruin a "good feeling".

Look somewhere else, if you have a choice.

    Advice to Management

Manage and train your department managers as to proper employee relations, be fair and consistent with your employees as most managers are not EOE trained.

    Maybe the culture has changed?
