    Seriously.....

Branch Manager (Current Employee) Cleveland, OH (US)

ProsHuntington pays better than the industry standard, flexible hours, and if you have any intelligence at all you have a great opportunity for career advancement due to the fact that most of their current employees lack drive and knowledge of the financial industry.

ConsDisorganized, constantly changing the direction of the business, restructured bonus system where you no longer make much, hire people that do not need to be in the banking industry, laughable training that has no real bearing on the true nature of the profession, will constantly look outside to hire individuals into management positions but hey I guess I can't complain about that it's how I was hired by these clowns haha.

Advice to Senior ManagementSpend more time assessing your current employees instead of just hiring other new employees that will also fail.
Please stop hiring people that worked for RadioShack, Verizon, and Arby's they have no idea that what it takes to be successful in Banking.
Treat the 10-20% of employees that make the bank actual money better and pay them accordingly.
Stop referring to yourself as a" National" bank, other banks laugh at you.

    Management begrudgingly pays incentive.

Banker (Current Employee) Columbus, OH (US)

ProsMarginal benefits. Their checks clear. It beats working at McDonalds but the pay is about the same. No other positive things.

ConsAnti-commission plans. the company sets up the incentive plan so that it is nearly impossible to earn an incentive. Huntington Bank clearly not this misrepresents job functions and duties during interview process.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou are not Chase!

Quick to fire for unforgiving errors.

Assistant Manager (Current Employee) Grand Rapids, MI (US)

ProsNone. Hired as 've, fired as teller.

ConsWork life balance. Management doesn't listen to reason.

Great Place to Bank, Terrible Place to Work

Branch Manager (Current Employee) Grand Rapids, MI (US)

ProsFlexibility of schedule and always extra hours to pick up

ConsManagement treats you like less than a person. Not given tools to complete job to Huntington standards.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop treating your people like objects and tools that do not even deserve the basic freedoms and liberties, we are real people too! Stop micro-managing and trust the employees you hired. Lead by example and demonstrate you can get the job done first before pawning it off on others. There exists a belief that middle management cant get the job done (those who can't - teach) and the front lines want to see them do it. Also, if everyone in the entire west michigan region (Meijer branches) is on an 30 notice to improve or terminated, maybe we need to look at the leaders.

    Great company terrible upper management

In Store Personal Banker (Current Employee) Grand Rapids, MI (US)

ProsHuntington is a great company overall as a bank.

ConsHowever the upper management is not great. I am very disappointed in the in-store program, little to no room to grow. DM is a joke does not hire quality branch managers.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake a close look at the DM from Western Michigan and all the issues she has with her store managers due to the lack of quality of branch managers she is hiring.

    Former Employee

Mortgage Banker (Former Employee) Cincinnati, OH (US)

ProsThere are no pros to speak of.

ConsThe managers will give you the bait and switch during the interview. They will tell you what you want to hear, then change the story once you're locked in and hired. You will be set up to FAIL!! Senior management is always hired from outside of the company, never from within. Horrible training. Management plays favorites and if you're not one of the favorites, you will not survive and they will find a reason to get rid of you. They always hire management from within, always from outside, therefore, you will receive NO HELP, just criticism ultimately termination. 2/3 of the employees that I started with are no longer working for the bank. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS BANK. I don't see this bank lasting another 10 years.

Advice to Senior ManagementFire EVERY SINGLE SALES MANAGER AND REGIONAL SALES MANAGER AND start over. They are ignorant to the mortgage industry. This company will not succeed in the Cincinnati/NKY market, (if the institution even lasts at all). DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DON'T EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME INTERVIEWING WITH THIS COMPANY. (And get rid of the disgusting green color. You look like morons.)

Incompetent IT middle management, IT project management a disaster, IT application releases are train wrecks.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGenerous PTO days. Slowly adding more competent technical people. Some nice benefits like free tickets to pro hockey games.

ConsSr. manager drops F bombs in open meetings. Passive aggressive culture. This is the way we've always done it attitude. Rely on vendors to debug issues. Health care costs high.

Advice to Senior ManagementReview middle management, get rid of managers who are in their position simply due to longevity and those that violate policy. Allow employees to review their managers , instead of managers reviewing employees only.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
