    Cons

promotions, training, management - a flat organization w/ little chance of promo

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

invest in employee training, create promotion paths, and be more transparent in upward mobility, there's no consistency as to who is promoted or what criteria was used.

    Pros

I have been with Informatica for more than three years now and enjoyed being part of this company.

    - Greta work environment which has very supportive team and Very approachable management.
-Lots of scope for self-learning through on-demand and classroom trainings provided.
    -Work-life balance.
    -Work from home option.
    -Free Food
    -Fitness facility and Yoga Classes

    Cons

-Unless you and your manager make noise and are vocal of the challenges they overcame at a customers, nobody recognizes your work.
-Promotion is flat based on number of years of experience.
-Since most of the revenue is generated by US, Indian team receives step-motherly treatment.
-Sometimes You never get opportunity to work on products you took training for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is highly demotivating when no recognition is provided.
Please analyse the work done by your team members.
    Monotonous work is a killer.

I have been working at Informatica full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Very competitive internal teams - lots to learn from your peers. Pretty amiable environment internally - teams ready to help. Significant learning opportunities. Unlike many other software firms, Bangalore continues to be the hub from where major product R&D ownership and delivery comes from. Excellent PreSales leadership in India.

    Cons

Very lean organization. Most departments struggle with bandwidth round the year. Investment in a region comes only if results are delivered ahead to indicate potential - something that is a big blow for regions like India. Being a US-centric company from Sales perspective - countries like India where the annual revenue opportunity is way smaller than what US or other regions deliver, resourcing or employee wages would always be on the lower side.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest more in regions outside of US esp India. Treat Sales support teams also fairly like your core Sales organization - PreSales is pretty much being given step-child treatment. Bring in more people to bridge the uneven reporting structures - too many junior level positions in APJ region directly reporting into APJ head causing a lot of the suggestions/requests going unheard. PreSales compensation in India is way below what competition offers in this region - will not help attrition at all.

    colleagues are supportive in nature.
Implement any technology according to the needs.
     office culture- good.

    Cons

    Too much politics.
    No micro management.
"Its a best place to learn for" for the freshers and "great place to work for " for the higher officials.

    Pros

    Work life balance
    Almost Politics free environment
    Decent technical growth.
Slow but steady salary hikes. Everybody gets some hike here

    Cons

    1. The salary is not competitive enough.
    2. Quite a slow moving company...perhaps another oracle in the making
    2. Work is not outstanding. It will be hard to justify your years of experience with your actual experience.
    3. The domain that company works in not hot anymore. You'll get many takers in the industry.

I have been working at Informatica full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

There is a flexible work environment and benefits are fair/good. I've learned a lot but every accomplishment has been by sheer determination and perserverance.

    Cons

People do not work together, cross organizations or cross department. There is a mindset to only focus on your quarterly goals not the goals of the organization or company. There are multiple teams working on the same deliverables and no communication or alignment. It may be a different experience if you work at headquarters - but in this day and age a company should be better skilled at engaging, supporting and including remote employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring together teams to focus on corporate objectives. Help to establish clear roles, responsibilites and hand-offs. Communicate regularly on top initiatives - what they are and how an organization supports or is responsible for these.
Invest in better systems and tools to help employees do their jobs.

I have been working at Informatica full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The experience in terms of work culture , technology vary quite a lot from department to department . I was lucky to be in a team that grew out around me from the time i joined. It was a flat, highly motivated team that was working on a newly acquired product, management and technology wise this team had very little overlap with rest of Informatica products. The team was flat structured, with good amount freedom to select our technology. The top management was driving us very hard but there was good raises and bonuses the whole time so it evened out. Overall it was good experience , but this is what a good team inside could be , experience in other teams could be quite different.

    Cons

The top brass has metastatised in terms of new thoughts and ideas . They are mostly people that have come here after long stints in other big enterprises (Oracle/SAP) and/or Indian Services companies. There idea of tech is man management and view of the world is that of DB world of the 90's . They would boldly go forth branding their offerings with whatever is the flavour of the season "BIG DATA" , "CLOUD" and what-have-you but one good look reveals that these "concepts" are some scattered fogs in their horizon.
The technological and design choices of most mainstream Informatica products reflect their personalities and dynamics of their relationships .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not every company gets to have an early-mover advantage in a sector that is born twice. There is an incredible opportunity to clean the Aegean stables and sail while the tide still stays.
