    Sick Days

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Houston, TX (US)

ProsThe insurance benefit is great, the pay is okay, they try to keep current with the market.

ConsYou can't really use your sick days. You have all these days but if you call in sick thats a point against you. The only time you can be absent is on vacation, but who plans sick days?

    ProsGreat place for cancer innovation

ConsHorrible environment to work in. Core values are not used by employees. Many employees are in positions about their pay grades

Advice to Senior ManagementBe selective about who you hire based on educational and experience, not of friendships or relationships

ProsRetirement plan is the best thing that I can say at this time after being there for 8 years

Conshard to advance within the company, The recruitment process is horrible and they really don't respond to reasons why your application was not passed to the hiring manager

Advice to Senior Managementlighten up and listen to what you employees are trying to tell you

    Decent

Postdoctoral Fellow (Current Employee) Houston, TX (US)

    Prosgood contacts, great work experience

Conspoor pay, high paperwork, admin positions get paid too much

Advice to Senior ManagementGive the salary to scientists who are the brains behind the operation. It is frustrating for scientists to know that paper pushers in the department 'so called project managers' are the ones with the big salaries.

Great place to work, but only with the right people

    Clinical Research Personnel (Current Employee)

ProsGaining experience from a world-renowned institute which looks great on the resume.

ConsToo much micromanagement, research management does not keep its promises, cannot trust in your supervisors, difficult to transfer to other departments; lately many people were hired for clinical research with no relevant education and/or experience; failed HR employees transfer themselves to positions and getting the highest end of the salary range, while they don't have relevant education and/or experience, while at the same time regular employees barely get a raise; unfair treatment of certain employees, double standard. More cons than pros for sure.

Advice to Senior ManagementFire all HR personnel, review research management's performance and change them where it is required, review "flex hours" as some employees take advantage of that (e.g. supposed to work 40 hours during 4 days, but work only 8 hours per day or even much less - many times the excuse is that "working from home" while their work requires in-house presence).

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

ProsThe benefits are excellent and with the right supervisor, the work/life balance is achievable.
