    Positive

Marketing Intern (Current Employee) Mississauga, ON (Canada)

ProsGreat company to have on your resume. Very supportive co-workers, lots of opportunity for growth, and always something exciting to work on.

ConsAt times I feel out of the loop on a lot of things, which makes it difficult to do my job. A few internal services don't always work, and some subscriptions literally took a year for me to receive (employee MSDN).

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep on keeping on. The company is heading in the right direction, the values are solid, just need to keep working at it and improve the little things.

    Awesome company

Research Intern (Former Employee) Redmond, WA (US)

ProsMicrosoft is located in Redmond, WA where you can have really nice weather during the summer. There are tons of nice and stimulating people in Microsoft, and tons of projects that are stimulating, challenging, and fun. I liked the food at the food court; there are diversity from pasta and burgers to pad thai and pho. You will absolutely love your experience at Microsoft. Plus, free sodas all the time.

ConsThere are not so many cons about working at Microsoft as an intern. But it is well known that their management somehow does not always work well; teams could be in a not-so-good relationship with other teams and all.

This internship was challenging, informative, and rewarding.

High School Intern (Former Employee) Redmond, WA (US)

ProsThey give you a coding mentor who will help you when you're stuck on a problem.
They provide lots of opportunities to network with your higher ups.
They give out an Intern gift every year, usually one of their latest products (like the Surface Pro).
They increment your hourly wage each time you come back as an intern.

ConsYou're expected to do a lot of self learning as your mentor will likely be very busy with his/her own projects.

Really great company to work for in terms of work-life balance, benefits/perks, and general happiness!

Explorer Intern (Former Employee) Redmond, WA (US)

Pros- The company treats it's employees great! Free gym membership, free transit pass, subsidized housing for interns, lots of free swag
    - Just three words: Intern Signature Event. Best night of my entire internship by far. We got to taste all the best foods of Seattle, saw Macklemore and Deadmau5 in concert, got tours of the Boeing factory in Duck Tour Boats, and received a surface pro 2 as an intern gift (before it was even released to the public!!)
    - Lots of events and after-work programs for everyone! I attended "Stay and Draw" events, salsa lessons, etc.
    - The campus is very nice and there's shuttle service to different buildings
    - Ppl don't care which internet browser, phone, or search engine you use (my over-consciousness about the whole thing was really just in my head, more than anything)
    - Upper management is very accessible and willing to talk to interns (I was able to ask the dev manager of my team for 1-on-1 lunch and she was very nice!)
    - Lots of opportunities for career growth
    - Lots of supports from mentors as an intern
    - Lots of fun intern-only events :D

Cons- I was in Office, so the development cycles were really long (although much shorter than what it used to be)
    - The recruiters can be EXTREMELY pushy. They won't take no for an answer, and they don't seem to understand why, as a student, you'd want to experience other companies/industries
    - Sometimes it feels like Microsoft fosters mediocrity
    - Felt like my intern project didn't have much impact

Advice to Senior ManagementGive more relevant intern projects that make an impact

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
