    Great place to gain experience, but not a career destination.

    ProsGreat people, fair work/life balance, good place to gain entry level experience.

    ConsVery low pay, mediocre benefits, poor culture and at times a negative work environment, and little recognition from senior management. Not focused on employee development, exceptionally high turnover.

    Advice to Senior ManagementThe company needs to develop a positive company culture (respect, integrity, accountability) and make it the center of everything they do. Upper management should model these values constantly and expect and require the same values in their employees. There are a lot of good people at Neogen, but there are several who get away with deplorable behavior routinely. They ruin the experience of working at an otherwise good company for those who refuse to act in such an unprofessional manner.

    Very low pay but good entry level experience

    ProsGreat people. Enjoyed my day. Team work ethic. Not micromanaged. Learned a lot about microbiology.

    ConsPoor pay for the level of education and experience most employees have.
    CEO continually has meetings about how well the company is doing, growing, investing and acquiring new companies, but the company does not reward its employees for this or increase wages as they should.
    Poor health care benefits with consistent increased cost to employees.
    Not much incentive to work there long term because they do not compete with the pay and benefits of other companies. Great minds leave all the time and most of the people that work there are always looking for other job opportunities.

    Advice to Senior ManagementPay more. Reward employees. Happiness on the job makes people stay and company would advance more if all the great minds stayed.

    Good place to start but no true potential for growth. Corporate does not care about the employees.

    ProsMost of the people that I work with here are good people who deserve better. If you stay here long enough you will get promoted just for having seniority.

    ConsPay and compensation is very low when compared to the rest of the industry. Corporate does not care about its employees. The investors are the only ones who matter to corpoarte, not the people who make the company successful by traveling and leaving their families behind for low compensation. VERY high turnover rate.

    Advice to Senior ManagementReward your employees for their hard work and dedication to their job. A happy work enviroment and worker will get your more production and sales.

    Decent Place to Start

    Pros-The coworkers are, for the most part, all very genuine people.
    -It's an entry level opportunity to develop your skills so that you can move on at a later time.

    Cons-Compensation and benefits are poor.
    -Focus is on investor value, not employee development.
    -Very hard to move up, or around within the company.
    -Many individuals on sales team are inept.
    -Management does very little to motivate employees, no incentives for good performance.
    -Many labs are understaffed, but the company would rather do more with less than hire a few more people, thus helping their bottom line.
    -Nothing ever changes, implementation takes too long.

    Advice to Senior ManagementYou have some great people at your company, show them you actually care about them. Focus on employee development/more competitive compensation packages, and your bottom line will improve even more.

    Fair Pay for a 40 hr wk. But as management you are consistently expected to run understaffed and have no home life.

    ProsInteresting people to work with, lots of opportunities to increase your knowledge base, skill set and experience if you are willing/ able to put in tons of extra hours, senior management is reasonable and respectful of employees and really have a genuine desire to have a stable, debt free company that will not lay off employees. Senior Management, the Board of Directors and Officers of the company make considerably less money than they would at other companies of the similar size. Neogen also spends a good chuck of change every year on a very nice Christmas party, summer picnic and other events for employees and their families.

    ConsSenior management, while reasonable most of the time has a hardline stance on requiring departments to run understaffed in order to save money. A large number of employees company wide have a challenging time working so many hours and covering vacations, etc. When you look at the total compensation pkg vs. hours you work I think it comes in pretty low. They also do not allow comp time for salaried employees and there is no allowance for flex time for any employee. It is common for un or underqualified people to obtain positions because they are friends or neighbors of the senior management team, but I suppose that occurs in most work places. Neogen has a higher turnover than other companies of it's size and the primary reason is salary and work life balance. It is a great place to expand your skills, learn and grow and then move on to a better opportunity.

    Advice to Senior ManagementMany of your best and brightest leave because they feel unappreciated and undervalued in total compensation vs. hours worked. Please consider revising flex/comp/pto plans and salary structure.
