    Past its prime.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Jacksonville, FL (US)

    ProsUnique culture, some great people.

ConsLack of clear career pathing/opportunities, salary below industry average.

Advice to Senior ManagementDiversify - most of the executive management team have only worked at PSS their entire careers, which leads to a culture of "yes-men" and lack of fresh ideas.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Great Company That takes care of there own

Pick/Pack (Former Employee) Louisville, KY (US)

ProsGreat environment to work in. The company goes above and beyond to make you feel like one of there own. Many great Perks.

ConsSome Favoritism is shown from the Management, which can be a bummer if your not the most like guy in the place. and since you dont leave until the work is done means alot of long hours.

Advice to Senior Managementalot of things go on in warehouse that a "Blind Eye" gets turned away from. you need to dig into things a bit and clean house.

    The culture is gone

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsVery family driven. Good opportunities in the right field. Co-workers are very casual and get along well.

ConsNo room for advancement. The enviornment and culture has changed. Upper management doesn't reveal major changes in the company until it is public. Not rewarding for your acomplishments. The pay is poor based on the time and effort put in.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe more open and let the employees know current aquisitioins and events. Be available for conversation and growth for employees.

    Employer of Choice ?

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsPSS has good market share and is a solvent and stable corp. There is a small amount of turnover in general.

Consalthough there is a small amount of turnover and the company is constantly performing well employees are made to feel like thier jobs are constantly in jeapordy. They run programs to "save 300 jobs" with the emplyees and then tell the investors we are spot on. Typical hypocritical corprate stuff. they like to tell you they care about you and thats why they want you to save them money.

Advice to Senior Managementdont become too big to be agile. Our ability to adapt and overcome situations makes us the distributer of choice. When we limit our selves by installing things like roadnet. we cannot service the customer in certain situations without penalizing the drivers. Touting it as the system ups usses does not hold much water since UPS used it decided it diddnt work and got rid of it at a loss. Shop PSS select items better for quality. Customer satisfaction is at stake.

If going into Sales, be careful

    Sales Representative (Current Employee)

    ProsGreat opportunities
Senior Management is realistic about challenges facing the industry, and therefore has a customer focused business agenda
    Create your own schedule
    Unlimited income potential

ConsFor someone "pioneering" a territory (not given any accounts), PSS asks for 3 years but only pays you for 18 months, after that, you are on a straight commission. Recruitment makes a lot of promises but its a totally different story when you are in the field. People who are given business have it MUCH easier. This is much more like starting your own company, which can be very difficult without the proper training (also not the best). Great company to work for, but if interviewing, make sure expectations and what you are getting yourself into are clear.

Advice to Senior ManagementTraining needs to be revamped- make sure leaders are enforcing ride days with reps/trainees. Pay attention to rookies- they want to succeed but need your help!
