    Cons

Management loop is long and no space for new engineers. there are always Italian and French guys on top. vey frustrating bureaucracy and poor communication

    I worked at STMicroelectronics full-time

    Pros

    > Good work-life balance, emergency customer situations that require more work hours are less frequent.

    Cons

    >> Salary isn't competitive, once a person begins to rise in the organization.
    >> Company culture is not enforced properly across all sites - some sites don't have a mandatory policy of team outings, cultural events, etc.
    >> Frequent internal reorganizations make employees feel concerned about whether the top management really knows what they are doing.

I have been working at STMicroelectronics full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I have been with STM for 11 years, a great company wihere very good in training and knowledge sharing, very good environment with slow paced but things are get done steady. Very systematic and you fear not to loss with your problem. Very low pressure and slowly people will help to get thing done when you are stuck.

They are always in the front line of technology and petty much things can be learn. Most importantly, they seldom layoff people and try to keep the people within the company in case of downturn with many option. Very good place for those perfer stability and peaceful life.

    Cons

Very complex organization and produces annoying political tension among organization some time. This company is very huge company with more than 50000 employees. It applies hybrid hierarchy where most of organization is controlled horizontally and vertically, provide full control but making easy things difficult sometime.

Pay is in average range and AI is not that significant sometime.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

SImplify the organization size and its complexity but put more resource to area with greatest value and growth could bring this company to another level of achievement.

I have been working at STMicroelectronics full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Im only speaking my own office. It's relatively "relaxing" environment, whereby you can don't need to work over time if you don't want to.

    Cons

Career advancement seems to be limited, unless you are in the European office, due to the internal organization. Management also has differences motivating people.

I worked at STMicroelectronics as an intern (more than 5 years)

    Pros

It is a big company which works in several fields from silicon technology to computer vision to augmented reality. It is always looking for internships and the selection process is quite easy.

    Cons

I found little help from the company employees, and I had to solve many issues by my own. Moreover, there is little communication among various offices and seats, causing waste of time if working on overlapping projects. The personal work is not rewarded as it could be, and managers tend to control their employees very much.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Discover the skilled people you have inside, maybe just normal employees; invest more on long-running research

I worked at STMicroelectronics as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Good work-life balance, slow-paced work environment, good job security from what I can observe during my internship there, helpful colleagues are always there to guide you.

    Cons

Inefficient HR department, filing an unpaid leave is always a hassle even with everything computerized. Compensation and benefits are subpar compared to other competitors. The company looks like a place for old-timers to stay down and wait for retirement. The workspace is so cramped with so many people working in such a small confined office. Can't even stretch your arms without touching the person next to you... And the lift capacity for the building is so small (always congested during peak hours) :<

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix up the HR department. Listen to your employees more. Reorganize the office layout and upgrade the lift capacity of the building. Lay out a clear career path for young bloods. Otherwise they will look elsewhere for greener pastures.

I worked at STMicroelectronics full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I worked for a tyrant of a director, but I believed in his leadership. He was on-point, confident and intelligent in terms of how the department's direction should move towards. As a boss, he was fair with his staff and despite his tough, moody exterior, an all-round nice guy. 5 years under his wing, my learning curve was extremely high with several growth and travel opportunities.

During his leadership, the department's culture was intense and pressure-cooker like, but it was efficient. It was rare that one had to stay back for overtime, as long as all urgencies were attended to and prior arrangements made. He walked the talk and usually leaves the office by 7pm, and did not expect staff to stay for overtime unnecessarily.

On-site culture is that of an extended family. Approach the relevant teams in the right manner, and they would be willing to explain and teach you the relevant processes and procedures.

    Cons

Current leadership is overly flexible, with no fix stand or direction. Work life balance is encouraged but it is not shown by example with follow-up e-mails from senior management being issued after hours for operational matters, even up till 3am. The team works mainly off e-mails with a daily average of 500 e-mails received.

Compensation, perks and benefits are definitely not one of the best in the industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at employees as part of your thinking work-force (especially the good ones), not just mindless robots. People are three-dimensional with many aspects, strengths and weaknesses to them. A great leader is one who is able to read and manage their staff accordingly.

    Cons

Due to difficult situation of the company , there is an imbalance between the number of resources and the work.
