I worked at Siemens full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

No micro management. Lets the customer decided direction. good affordable insurance, generous time off policy. The management works with you to help further your career and is generally available.

    Cons

when moving to another position, pay does not increase according to what others are being paid. standardized hardware across company does not work for all positions. some require higher powered, larger systems.

I worked at Siemens full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great culture, high performance is rewarded. Adequate resources are provided, goals are challenging but reasonable. The business is in a sustainable environment with a good future outlook. Salary is decent, and bonus is achievable. They invest a lot in R&D to keep a good portfolio going into the future. Morale seems to be universally good across differing SBU's and the europeans (especially from Germany) have a good opinion of the US teams.

    Cons

often times there is little opportunity for advancement - not too many people want to leave so that makes for a lot of competition on open roles. They are an engineering company at heart so in order to really advance, it is easier if you are an engineer by degree. Sometimes you must take lateral positions in order to get the background of experience they want for more senior roles.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put more emphasis on the importance of the marketing function. Sometimes it feels like the executive management team feels like marketing is a necessary evil rather than a value add.
