    I have been working at Siemens full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Massive multi national with a very diverse product range. The name Siemens opens many doors in many industries. The products are known to be good quality (like your Mercedes Benz type product).
    Very top management (Germany) appears to be strong. Local top management is also strong however when you drop down literally a level or two competency of management can be appalling.

    The culture depends on your division - Like any large company there are many people who bring positives and negatives to the organisation. My division has almost always been positive.There are people around that do want to go the extra mile. The trick is to find them so that you can do your job.

    Starting salary was really good, this stayed relatively flat after that.

    Training opportunities are there for the taking.
    Travel both local and international is an absolute possibility if 1) wanted and 2) you are in a position that facilitates this.

    All in all I love Siemens, and feel privileged to work here.

    Cons

    Not always too easy to progress - There is a boys club mentality and often people get promoted without any job advertising taking place.
    Negotiate hard on your starting salary - you cannot rely on your increases.
    Commission structures literally change on an almost annual basis - therefore goal posts keep shifting.
    There is a chance to find yourself under a bad manager. In my teams case, the organisation has been much too slow to react to bad middle management. I cannot emphasise enough how a poor manager has tainted my view of the organisation, and most of all that not much has been done by senior levels to alleviate this.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    -Create a forum where employees can report poor management. From CEO/exec management level you may think it is there but it isnt. HR are fairly useless in that regard other than to fill in a bit of paper work. Ideally we can speak to VP levels or CEO about our concerns.
    -Employees want more of a voice - that said some of us are scared to voice our concerns. This is a concern on its own!
    -the career plans should be living documents. They are sometimes completed and even less often actioned despite employees pushing them
    - Forget the arrogance. We can be a lot better. If we were so good (in Aus) why are our competitors often (product dependent) in a much stronger position?!

    Pros

    Treats their employees fairly well within the technology group. Very good work life balance in many cases. Siemens has been committed to creating and fostering a culture and working environment that will promote and encourage new younger talent while also ensuring the adaptability of its more senior/longer tenured employees don't feel pressure to hit the road.

    Cons

    If you have been with the company a long time and started at the bottom, its sometimes hard to be competitive with colleagues who have come in at more senior now equivalent positions.
    The company restructures every 3 years which sometimes gets frustrating and there is sometimes a lack of sufficient communications relevant to the impacts of employee groups.
    Senior positions in the US are often filled within the Americas are sometimes filled with delegates from HQ, rather trying to promote within or recruit talent within the Americas.
