Staff Augmentation with minimal communication

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Sogeti

ProsSogeti has a nice brand name with a high profile parent company; CapGemini. It has a great benefits package including a terrific 401k option...if you can wait 3 years for it to vest. There are lots of talented people employed by Sogeti who are passionate about what they do and can deliver high quality work.

ConsThere is little to no communication from leadership to it's consultants. The moral is low and not much is being done to change that. There is a high turnover rate and the projects are tactical in nature.

Advice to Senior ManagementRegroup and realize your consultants are a valued asset and not a warm body to staff. Have an open and transparent communication process.

Backstabbing for any sort of bonus.
No opportunity for advancement.
No support from management and no opportunity for training.
You are left to your own, sink or swim.

Violations.. this "business" needs to be audited.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Chicago, IL (US)

I have been working at Sogeti full-time for more than 3 years

ProsNone... you are wasting your time.

ConsNo Human Resources. And thats just a start..

Advice to Senior ManagementA total overhaul of the company structure on how it operates. There is absolutely no accountability leadership in this company. Complete misconception of leadership. This company operates like a Mafia.

Its NO DIFFERENT from a third grade consulting body shop, picking up folks from third party body shops for pennies and fresh grads, under compensating and exploiting them on Visa and immigration aspects. Complete lack of ethics, quality.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE.. JUST NOT WORTH IT. You will be just jeopardizing your career.

Consultant (Former Employee)
Dallas, TX (US)

I worked at Sogeti full-time for more than a year

ProsGets you corporate experience but other than that I would recommend finding a better place after a year or 2

ConsLow pay. A lot of politics go on. CEO decreases benefits. Nearly impossible to get a bonus. Have no sense of direction

Consulting sweat shop.

Consultant (Former Employee)
Charlotte, NC (US)

I worked at Sogeti full-time for less than a year

Pros401k is matched at 150% up to the first 6%.

ConsMediocre pay structure. Factory mentality. Disgusting PTO plan. It's a billing machine not an employer.

Advice to Senior ManagementYour supposed to be a boutique consulting firm, not a factory.

Stay away from the Dayton Unit!

Managing Consultant (Former Employee)
Dayton, OH (US)

I worked at Sogeti full-time

ProsIn my time with Sogeti I had some great engagements that helped me grow both professionally and personally. However, that was mostly at the hands of my clients.

ConsOver the last year, the sales funnel has dried up. Those suffering the most are the consultants. Experience ranks lower than low cost resources.

Advice to Senior ManagementNew leadership is needed in the Dayton unit. Most consultants are just waiting for their day to be called in to be laid off. Business leaders in the Dayton market view Sogeti as nothing more than a resource shop and are more often passing on Sogeti due to the "Right to Hire" clause written into the Master Services Agreement with their clients.

Awful culture

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Sogeti full-time

ProsPeople work hard here, and are overall quite nice. There are some good offerings in some markets and a great corporate parent company. Decent place for college grads or people early in their career.

ConsThere is a "one size fits all" corporate way of doing things for all locations regardless of how different each geography and it's clients are. Sogeti is notoriously cheap, focused solely on margin and bill rate but not the consultant. Management rules with an iron fist and seems to be related to one another (i.e. CEO and COO are brother-in-laws), for a firm of around 2,500 people I find that strange. The culture is outdated and people are generally frustrated.

Advice to Senior ManagementFully understanding this is a business and everyone has to make a profit, don't forget about your employees. One week of 'employee appreciation' doesn't cut it. With so much competition for top talent, the days of ruling with an iron fist are over. Adapt to the modern workforce. Be more honest and transparent with your consultants.

If you like being an IT or Project Manager Mercenary, then this company is for you!

Principal Consultant (Current Employee)
Dayton, OH (US)

I have been working at Sogeti full-time for more than 10 years

ProsPerfect employer for A type individuals, if you can sell project management or purple squirrel IT programming needs then you can make bank.

ConsWork/Life balance is horrible, what they describe as benefits aren't, you live under the "what have you done for me lately" or your out the door.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou claim that your employees are your best asset but slave owners before the civil war were kinder.

Deceptive management driven by numbers, a body shop

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Sogeti full-time

ProsA good place for college grads. Sogeti tends to take fresh talent, train them somewhat, and bill them out at low rates. As skills grow people like this tend to be hired away by better companies.

ConsSogeti has unreasonable expectations for senior staff looking for rewarding work with more responsibility. The compensation model sends people running for the door. The bonus plan encourages long term billing at good rates with low salaries. Every year the company lowers the total compensation. Managers and VPs routinely focus on KPIs over growth, and often misrepresent at the expense of another to further their own agenda, or appease a superior.

Advice to Senior ManagementDecide what type of company you want to be, and then execute. Don't try to be a solutions and services company when really it's a staff aug body shop.
