    Pros

You can work from home when you want. You can get a lot of responsibility at a young age. You can travel a lot, including internationally. The people are really nice and really willing to help

    Cons

They work you really hard and call it agile working. The structure is not very organized and there are frequent reorgs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

In this company, you are in a really great position. It allows you to really grow as a professional, as well as a person. You're given opportunities to handle million dollar brands that other companies cannot offer. It also allows for you to do agile working (work from home).

    Cons

Promotions are a challenge, not enough slots for the number of eligible people
Leadership also consistently shakes things up,...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stick to decisions. Do not keep changing the direction because it will affect all of us

I worked at Unilever as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Lots of resources. Helpful people. Easy work hours. Accommodating managers.

    Cons

Inconsistent motivation across the teams. Poor guidance. Upper management too removed from the issues.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get to know your team better. There are many 9-to-5ers just hanging out without accomplishing much. If you can find and properly reward the good ones, it will help you get a better sense of what is happening at the ground level.

I have been working at Unilever full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Unilever is a hood company to work for if you need knowledge about the fmcg industry. It's a huge company with a lot of brands that help you to gain insights about all the departments working together to reach a goal.

    Cons

The leadership is the biggest challenge in the Gulf region. Since the past 3 to 4 years, the executive committee has not been able to make the right decisions for the people and you will notice that the moment you enter the office. The mood of the people is at an all time low and this has reflected in the business performance as well. A huge leafership shake up is needed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This is an advice to the Executive Committee of Unilever Gulf - Start looking into what your managers are working on and act as the senior leadership to make the right decisions by taking a collective call. Show teamwork examples within yourselves before you decide to share it with the lower management.

    Pros

Overall a good place to work with a diverse culture. you would expect from the size of this multinational

    Cons

Can be a very political environment and people will stomp on you to get up, that's okay, just be prepared

I have been working at Unilever (more than a year)

    Pros

    WONDERFUL people to work with
BIG company culture, international company gives opportunity to work with a very diverse group of people.
Free tea and coffee all day
Company store!! - buy most Unilever products at just above cost
    Decent salary and benefits

    Cons

Foods business isn't doing as amazingly as they want so there are tons of hire freezes and downsizing going on. They seem to take away more and more of the "perks" of working here every year. If you are in the Lisle group it is much smaller and every year people wonder how much longer the office there is going to last. The only other location (for non-plant workers) is Englewood Cliffs, NJ or Trumbull, CT which doesn't leave many options. They are currently changing systems and none of it was thought out well. North America needs to take all specifications from Europe yet there are different standards and regulations that it just isn't working. IT is outsourced to India so it's almost impossible to get your computer issues fixed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop taking away all the money and perks of working here!
