    Pros

Competitive pay with a great work life balance. Focus on development is dependent on managers, so can be a positive or a negative. Culture is evolving to be more open and transparent.

Location is a small town, so you will see many colleagues outside of work.

    Pros

lots of freedom to move jobs and functions, new facility upgrades, small town

    Cons

lower end of pay scale, small town, senior leaders too short term focused

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to refocus on product vs. just financial growth and size. Losing some of the small company feel as well as entrepreneurship and innovation. Need to better balance work life balance

I worked at Whirlpool as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible work hours, good guidance, global interaction. My internship was very good and I will recommend it to any engineering student. It will give you a good foundation in engineering as well as understanding business practices.

    Cons

Location is far away from major cities. Chicago is 1.5 hrs, and Detroit, even further. Restaurant options are limited, and few places of interest for young professionals.

Current Employee - CAD Design Manager in Benton Harbor, MI (US)

I have been working at Whirlpool full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Competitive pay for such a small town. Small town with a big city feel. Awesome beaches and PGA golf course nearby. Good young engineers and CAD Designers with tons of potential.

    Cons

Quality numbers are horrible. Some numbers in refrigeration are above 50% for service calls. We continue to give former maytag plants too much pull. There is a reason why maytag didn't survive and we are being pulled to go down the same path. We have hired a completely new work force for refrigeration but will never reap the rewards of innovation because of the old school thinking still being pushed by Amana.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow our new investments and people to drive the change needed in refrigeration.
