Health and Safety Instructor at Red Cross

No Offer – Interviewed in Orlando, FL (US) Jun 2013 – Reviewed Jun 16, 2013 New

Interview Details I applied online, and about a week later I received an email from an HR representative saying that a phone interview with him had been scheduled for me four days later at 2:00 pm EST. I awoke that morning, and began to prepare for the interview. At 11:01 am EST, I received and missed a call from the interviewer. I called him back, and explained that, per his email, I wasn't expecting to hear from him until later that day and apologized for missing his call.

The whole interview lasted less than five minutes, at which point I was told that the next step would be a phone interview with the hiring manager. The HR rep. told me that he would email me shortly with a link to the formal application for the job, and with details about my next interview. Almost immediately, I received an email back from him with a link to the application I had previously filled out (all of my information was on it, and my status on the site was "submitted"). About an hour later, I got another email from him with the details of my next phone interview.

The next day, I got not one but two separate emails from the same HR representative telling me that my interview with the hiring manager had been cancelled, no further details than that. All of my attempts to contact him since (even just to thank him for the opportunity to interview in the first place) have been futile.

Having volunteered with the Red Cross in the past, I was greatly looking forward to having them as my employer. I was very disappointed with the whole hiring process, and found it to be extremely unprofessional. I will continue to look elsewhere.

Regional Response Specialist at Red Cross

No Offer – Interviewed in Chicago, IL (US) – Reviewed May 20, 2013

Interview Details Applied online, contacted for a phone interview a couple weeks later. Phone interview was basic, was given a lot of details about the position. A week or so later, received an email with the offer to com into the office for the in-person interview. I think originally there was suppose to be more than one person interviewing me. The 1:1 interview was pretty relaxed, felt more like a conversation than an intense interview. It was nearly a month before I received the rejection, which I expected since the in-person interviewer informed me the next round of interviews would be in the coming week and when I didn't get the call.. well.
