      Interaction Designer Interview

      22 Jan 2013
      Anonymous employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Salesforce (San Francisco, CA) in Nov 2012

      Interview

I submitted my resume online via salesforce.com. I was contacted by a recruiter within a couple days who scheduled a phone screen with me. Once I passed the phone screen, I scheduled a call with one of the senior managers where we talked about my work and process for a little over an hour. The senior manager recommended me to a specific team and the recruiter scheduled a day long on site interview. The visit began with a portfolio presentation to approximately 12 team members, some of who were onsite and others on the GoToMeeting. This was followed by a series of 2:1 hour long interviews that were a mix of GoToMeeting and in person. I met with other designers, researchers, product managers and engineers. Everyone was very kind and accommodating and wanted to make sure I was comfortable during the process. I mention that because I've been through many day long interviews and it's common for people to forget how grueling they can be. I thought it was very indicative of the culture.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The question that impressed me the most was when I was asked how trust is important in a product. That question launched into a great conversation that was very telling of the culture at Salesforce. Otherwise there were a lot of questions about my process, how I interact with a team and how I made various decisions.

      Interaction Designer Interview

      No offer

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Salesforce (San Francisco, CA) in June 2013

      Interview

Phone screen followed by design challenge, then a full day of in-person interviews (including a presentation of the design challenge). I really appreciated the frequent communication throughout the process. Recruiter called after I found out I wouldn't be moving forward and gave me a breakdown of how the interviews went. Everyone was very nice, but the full day of one-on-one interviews was pretty exhausting. In the end, another candidate was a better fit for the role they were trying to fill.
