Intern at Sikorsky

Interview Details There was a hiring post on my university website for a Summer/Fall Co-op. They asked to submit a resume on the site and their own site. I got an email asking for a phone email and a there was a phone conference set up. In the phone conference, I was interviewed for three different internships, system engineering, operational management, and risk management. They basically went through my resume and asked me to talk about it.

Interview Question – The most unexpected question was which type of person are you, a system planner or system implementer.   Answer Question

Administrative Assistant at Sikorsky

Declined Offer – Interviewed in Coatesville, PA (US) Oct 2012 – Reviewed Mar 20, 2013

Interview Details I had a panel interview with a direct manager, an overall manager, and two coworkers. They all took turns asking me questions, pretty much a review of my resume and general office skills. There was some behavioral questions, how I would react if this or that happened. After the interview they took me on a tour of the plant and then I had a one on one with the direct manager. Here she talked more with me on what I was expecting in the position and gave me an overview of the benefits offered.

Interview Question – The most difficult question for me was "Why do you want to be in this role?"   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – The distance from my home to the office was the deciding factor.

Engineering Aid at Sikorsky

Accepted Offer – Reviewed Jan 13, 2013

Interview Details I found the interview process to be a very positive one. I met with the Chief Engineer of the department and I felt very comfortable because the style of the interview of very free-flowing. I'd advise anyone to use this to your advantage by using every opportunity to express to eagerness to contribute to the department and your ethusiasm when it comes to working in a team environment. The employees are very personable and a joy to work with.

If you have a good personality use it to your advantage while injecting as much substance as possible.

Interview Question – What are your weaknesses?   View Answer

Negotiation Details – I was fortunate to have a recruiter negotiate on my behalf.

Mechanical Engineering CoOp at Sikorsky

Accepted Offer – Interviewed on Stratford, CT (US) Apr 2012 – Reviewed Jan 01, 2013

Interview Details Applied online, it is pretty much just a resume drop for the time you can work for them (IE summer, fall, spring) as a student. Got a screening call in April asking about my experience and explaining the position to me, asking about my interest in the position. Was about a 10 minute phone call. A week later got a call, asking me a bit more about myself, and experience, pretty much an informal interview. The week after I got an email with an offer of employment to start in May.

Interview Question – Just was asked questions about projects I worked on and software I used.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Was given a very good pay rate for a CoOp, did not negotiate. Offers are given based on your status in school. (IE. Junior, Senior, Grad Student)

Contract Manager at Sikorsky

No Offer – Reviewed Nov 14, 2012

Interview Details Was scheduled to meet with 3 attorneys. Met with the first two and it was the usual interview - "tell me about yourself", "how does your experience make you a good candidate for this position". They also spent a lot of time explaining the company and its structure, which I appreciated but it wasn't really necessary if they weren't going to make an offer. The third person I was to interview with had an unexpected emergency and they asked to reschedule by phone which I agreed to. The next day I got an email saying they decided to hire someone internal, so the phone interview was cancelled.

Interview Question – No curveballs, but asking me to reschedule the last interview was nerve wracking because I was mentally prepared for it that day. I knew it meant more prep and more waiting. But it ended up not happening.   Answer Question
