Telecommunications Graduate Engineer at Telstra

Declined Offer – Interviewed in Sydney – Reviewed May 22, 2013

Interview Details Process started through online questionnaire which then progressed to a phone screening. After the phone screening is an online aptitude test lasting 20min or so. The next stage involves a group assessment centre where a group activity is given for you to solve and also a presentation about the activity with a mini 1 on 1 interview with a hr person. A final interview is given with hiring managers more specific to the role with majority of questions being behavioural questions.

Sales Consultant at Telstra

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Jan 2013 – Reviewed Jan 21, 2013

Interview Details Applied via seek.com and was contacted a few days after. Had an over the phone interview, an in store interview with the managers, and then a second interview with the area manager. It was slightly tedious but I felt as though they were doing this as quickly and properly as they could.

Senior IT Domain Specialist at Telstra

No Offer – Interviewed in Melbourne Apr 2012 – Reviewed May 29, 2012

Interview Details It is a classic case of Telstra delegating the management of the hiring process to an incompetent recruitment agency called Talent International. Telstra does not care how the agent behaves as long as the agent is able to recommend a suitable candidate. In my case, the agent required me to pay for my own air fares to travel to Melbourne, then asked me to reschedule my travel at my own costs, then put me through psychometric tests, then - after 1.5 month - told me that they recommended someone local over me just because they presumed that I don't have any agile software development management experience, which was clearly a false claim. The agent actually told me that I passed the interviews and received very appreciative feedbacks and that I also performed well in all the psychometric and personality tests. I just listened to the agent and chose to let them have their way because I was already dreading the prospects of facing the difficulties of relocating to Melbourne without my family.

Interview Question – When you know that the business will suffer because your immediate manager is too afraid of his peer (potential political back clash) to back your business case justification on the Captital Review Board, what did you do?   View Answer

Graduate at Telstra

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Sydney Jun 2011 – Reviewed Feb 10, 2012

Interview Details There was an online test which consisted of around 100 questions which you had to complete around 10-15 mins. It consisted of many mathematical, logical and analytical questions. After that I had to wait for 15-20 days before they told me that I had been selected for a telephone interview. Telephone interview was arranged in a couple of days and it was straightforward and some questions were repeated from the questions which I had already filled online(while submitting the resume). There was another 15-20 day wait before they told me that I was selected for the assessment centre. The A.C. had three parts. 1:1 interview(with a manager), presentation and group discussion. After this round I waited for 2-3 days before I got to know that I was selected for the final interview. The final interview was a panel interview which had all the usual behavioural questions and I got the offer within a week. The most important part is that they kept in contact with me telling me of any delays during the interview process.
