If I was to ask you to explain to me a specific sport that I have no previous knowledge of, how would explain/describe this sport to me?

I chose basketball as a sport. I would first ask as many questions of the person to clarify what they know. I would ask them what they would like to benefit from playing this sport. I would ask them if they know any of the rules for playing the sport. I would explain the rules. I would give them the basics on how the sport is played, example there's a ball and hoop and you bounce the ball (this is called dribbling) and try to throw the ball to get it into the hoop, etc...
