I have been working at BBC full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Lot's of training opportunities, good location for commuting. Opportunity to move about within the organisation.

    Nice working environment, great people.

    Cons

Heavy process driven organisation with lots of red tape. Sometimes the simplest tasks are made the impossible. Lots of embedded practice and disrupting the norm (if for the better) isn't appreciated.

With the amount of pressure on the organisation and people watching there is a culture of well intentioned people who try to do the very best but fail to move forward due to the fear of failure hanging over.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Failure isn't a bad thing. Failing fast and learning is good, denying there is a issue sweeping it under the carpet and pretending it doesn't exist will eventually hit you even worse...DMI.

I've worked with some of the best people I've known at the BBC and some of the worst. The worst have been those who have been there a long time and now in senior well payed roles who now keep their head down playing things cautiously to keep the well paid job rather than be honest and deliver to the standards of a well regarded media organisation.
