    I worked at Conn's full-time (more than 8 years)


    Conn's is a good place to work in sales especially if you have no experience. The company trains all employees and has on going required training for all store associates and managers. If you can walk and chew gum your qualified to work there and can rise to the ranks of management. Conn's is rapidly growing and increasing it market share which provides a lot of opportunity.


    The company will not give the store staff a consistent schedule which makes your personal life suffer due to the demands placed on employees. This includes mandatory training at various locations even when an employee is NOT scheduled to work that day.
     All sales staff have to meet minimum standards/sales goals each month and are NOT given consideration for scheduled time off i.e. vacation, personal days, etc. If an employee calls in sick regardless of there work history the management instructs that employee they are required to bring a Doctor's excuse before they can return to work.
     If Conn's has an issue with a contract for their financing and it does not get resolved in a very short period of time REGARDLESS of the circumstances pertaining to the contractual issue, the sales associate that processed the transaction will be forced by coercion to sign a payroll deduction for the merchandise or they will be SUSPENDED without pay as a form of punishment even after the associate has exhausted all available legal remedies. The company refuses to offer support they instead will garnish the employees wages.
     Conn's does not provide their employees with any type employee handbook that state company policy or benefits and guidelines to follow. The managers at store level are insufficient in their people skills to be effective leaders and tend to be "corporate puppets" with inadequate authority.
    The sales staff is by far treated the worst in the company and this is generated by executive management. They have FORGOTTEN where they came from or have never functioned that capacity. They micro manage the staff including store managers as though no one is capable of conducting themselves in a reasonable manner.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    It is beyond time for new upper management. Clean house on the "old school /good ol boys" that rose up through the ranks and recruit a executive team that has the skill set to operate a major corporation.
    STOP reducing the sale commissions and removing all vendor incentives that are intended for the sales staff as bonus for selling their products.
    Make the company more family orientated for employees. Treat your employees with "dignity and respect" as promised during orientation.
    Have some loyalty to those employees that have been loyal to Conn's.
