    I worked at Fresenius Medical Care - North America full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Decent pay and paid time off

    Horrible work life balance, I worked in manufacturing and was stuck on graveyard shift for the entire length of my employment, it was based on tenure so coming in a couple months after an employee with the same job title meant that until they quit you were stuck. Management played favorites, gave special training and promotions to the "yes" men and cronies. Allowed the chosen employees to flex schedule etc. Recognition was reserved for the employees that spent more time socializing with management. Selective enforcement of policies. HR department had 2 separate sets of policies, one local, the other corporate that they could pick and choose from depending on what best suited them. Major form of communication is poorly written emails from management and training staff. Due to the scheduling format and poor communication, many times employees would hear about major projects hours before they were supposed to initiate them. Night shift leaders rarely see management unless they come in hours early or stay hours late uncompensated. Management and HR has easy flexible "banker" hours and are mostly unavailable, bad practice for a 24/7 facility. The blind leading the blind. Miscommunication and finger pointing followed by CYOA is the norm. Quality Systems are a farce.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Work life balance is horrible. Being stuck on night or swing shift is bad news while trying to raise a family. Rotating shifts should be considered. Hire people to accommodate and train employees who don't share the same hours as Management. Management should accept responsibility for their inadequacies and not blame lower level employees for problems.
