    I worked at Fuze full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    There are no good reasons to work here aside from the type of perks you'd get anywhere else. They stock a fridge and have a kegerator, but the free food on Friday and beer on Thursday are just feeble attempts at culture. Standard ping pong table shows no creativity in providing outlets. The office is in a nice downtown location with lots of food nearby, but the building is very stuffy and corporate. The maintenance guys are really nice though. I'm really trying to come up with some pros here. I would like to say the people are great, but all the great people have left or were fired leaving an incompetent group of sheeple who are afraid to give their opinions.

    Cons

    This organization is rotten from the top down. As mentioned in other reviews it all begins with the CEO and his ego. He installed his incompetent team from Yammer (or Salesforce) who neither earned nor deserved respect. Moving on to the senior management, I've heard one employee call them "sociopaths" which is actually pretty accurate. Engineering and Product leads are from such unsuccessful teams as Microsoft and Skype (version 4 anyone?) who are completely out of touch with both the startup environment as well as the product space, and have especially poor people skills. For example, engineering leadership arbitrarily decided to try to move a 100% Python shop to Java without any consideration to people's opinions, skills or career paths. Instead, he just hired more cheap new CS degree imports. Why any engineers remained after this is beyond me. A "scrum" process was forcibly installed with no understanding of agile or other modern workflows common today, and run by a group that had obviously either attended a workshop once or worked a company so large that agile was just a buzzword there as well.

    Former senior management and leadership was neutered, replaced or marginalized until they left. The Sales organization is so badly managed everyone stopped learning the names of salespeople because they would simply vanish. In fact, over the years so many people just disappeared without a word everyone was constantly on edge. I've heard that salespeople have had trouble getting paid.

    As for culture, they hired a culture manager who despite trying pretty hard, was unable to endear anyone at the company, especially after claiming that employees needed to move out of individual or shared offices, and then took them over for their own use. An attempt was made to solicit feedback from employees but the feedback was of course just skin-deep and not heeded. The best advice (found below) was to fire the crony senior management, but of course that would never happen.

    Marketing has never been a team, but instead a mishmash of who would stay just long enough to find out how bad things were and quit. A few good folks are trying their hardest there, but with no organizational support or leadership, it's like the blind leading the stupid.

    Financially I believe the company is also in trouble. The last Series B was successful but then a B extension had to be hammered out because a C round could not be agreed upon. Last I heard the company had taken out loans to cover expenses because no funding is coming. Recent massive layoffs were more than likely a condition of raising any more funding, but if I were a VC, I would dump this company or at least look for an exit as a firesale rather than any sort of growth event. Recently two long-term "founder" types who had been marginalized by management also left simultaneously which is never a good sign. Everyone else at the company is polishing resumes and aggressively searching for a new opportunity.

    I could go on and on, but frankly if you consider working at this company after reading this or any of the other reviews, you get what you deserve. I believe the positive reviews here to be fleeced by the management or HR to try to retain some relevance in hiring because they're so obviously written from a cheery and upbeat perspective, which nobody at the company has had for some time. Any review before April was before the Death March began and is purely optimism. Unless they're offering to pay you a dump truck full of money (which I doubt), you should consider any other offer. If they ARE paying well, take the money and run.

    Final word: every single person who has left/been fired has said "why did I ever stay, I'm so much happier now".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    The only advice I can give is to the investors/board. You need to completely replace the middle through upper, including senior management regime. Unfortunately this was already done once and this was the result.
