    Former Employee - Store Manager

I worked at GNC full-time (more than 3 years)

The best part was working alone and not having someone hover over you all the time. As a store manager, you run the business mostly by yourself (with assistant manager in some stores and with part timers.)

Down season is between thanksgiving and Christmas making longer work days incredibly boring. Sales are more important than anything else. Upper management above the level of ssm (senior store manager-who oversees area stores) is very unwilling to help and usually doesn't care for the employees as they see them as being replaceable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Regional managers should listen to store managers more and build better relationships with those running the business for you. Make sure that they know what is expected of them and watch out for your people.
