    I have been working at Garmin full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Benefits like health and dental are really good.
    Monday through Friday work schedule.
    Fun annual trip to Worlds of Fun and Christmas party.

    Cons

    Little actual technical troubleshooting involved. Most calls are from people that do not know where the start button is on their computer. Make sure you would be ok with giving computer lessons to your grandparents for 8 hours a day.
    All time off comes out of your PTO regardless of if you are on vacation or sick.
    Low pay and small yearly raises like 25 to 50 cents per hour if you can manage to get one.
    The annual raise structure is setup so that no matter how you do, x amount of people in a team will receive nothing.
    Very few people advance out of the call center once they start there.
    Toxic work environment where coworkers are pitted against each other for the few advancement opportunities that exist.
    Little to no guidance from management or HR for career growth.
    Rigid attendance point system.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Please invest more resources into your call center employees so they can contribute more to the company. Most of us started as Product Support at Garmin because we thought if we worked hard enough we would be given opportunities to learn things besides how to answer phones. Some jobs at headquarters could be handled by existing call center employees with a few weeks of training but are instead given to interns and new graduates. I would highly recommend rotating middle management and periodically give Product Support associates different tasks. Something really should be done to improve a perception of career stagnation at the call center.
