Relaxed corporate culture, but 'boy's club' - as a female employee, don't expect career progress

I worked at King's College London full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Russell group university, has improved in rakings recently. Relaxed corporate climate, collaborative leadership style overall. Overall good relations between professional services and academics. Nice campus locations, work-life-balance ok. Salaries average for HEI.

    Cons

Experienced gender bias in career progression and promotions. Even when you have an outstanding performance, as a female manager, you will have to go through formal and competitive recruitment for a career progression. At the same time, male counterparties in the same team were promoted without going through any hassle.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create a fair and trasparent career progression and promotions system (inc salaries), then follow through and ensure compliance by all units. Introduce exit interview through HR and encourage leavers to give true reasons why they've left. To remain at the top, you'll need top people. Also, adjust salaries.
