    Current Employee - Senior Manager

I have been working at Legal & General Group full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Very good name on cv. Was always plenty going on to allow for challenge and development. Previous staff and performance appraisal policies were transparent and ensured fair outcomes

    Cons

Once you are onboard your package does not keep pace with the market
huge cultural shift and restructures since mid 2013 have increased centralisation, reduced resource beyond what is comfortable to manage business and result in staff working long hours without adequate support
increasingly political management which seems to value those who make the right noises over those with the knowledge who can actually do the work; a recipe for disaster once they lose the good people. Increasingly bullying culture to achieve results
Years of underinvestment in systems is now becoming critical yet they are cutting costs still further
    poor progression internally

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your staff and try the carrot not the stick
if you want to cut costs in the long run and improve customer service at the same time you need to invest in systems now
stop being so kingswood centric. You will find that it isnt the centre of the universe and in many cases your most productive staff are elsewhere
trest people fairly including reward. The current performance system is far worse than the previous one as it is open to abuse and allows favourtism.
