    I worked at Sky full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Free Sky package for duration of employment (Remember even as an employee, if you resign within the minimum term (24 months for me) you will be billed for the remaining months! Nice people Sky!!)

    Cons

    $ky is a political backwater, run by failed ex big-four accouting types, who are obsessed with cost control and penny pinching. If you have a role related to systems then prepared to be shocked and appalled;

    You'll start your first day by being given a dirty 3rd-hand, 5-year-old laptop, that barely functions.

    You'll spend your time frustrated as to why the beancounters won't sign-off on obvious upgrades to systems, 15 years out of support.

    You'll go nuts building tactical solutions and workarounds because of this, but hey, it saves a few pennies and makes the financial people look 'good'! Trebles all round for them... don't expect to see any bonus in your pay packet though - for you are not worthy.

    You'll then understand as to why there are very few old timers left at $ky who are not contractors... who in their right mind would dedicate themselves to such an outfit that pays minimum, has zero training budget and who's prime concern is always short term COST-CONTROL.

    You'll then find a job elsewhere and realise just how backwards $ky really is.

    Technology at $ky is a shambles.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Bring in external talent from large blue chips outside the Murdoch clique of companies; perhaps you'll see how things should be done. Won't happen as long as $ky remains an effective monopoly.
