    I worked at The Hartford full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Good benefits
    Time off is good
    Associates are nice
    Opportunity to work remotely

    Cons

    Supervisors are out of touch with reality when it comes to a managable case load.
    The metrics to be successful change yearly so you never know from one year to the next what "successful" means
    The amount of claims you are expected to handle while maintaining exceptional customer service and quality is 250+
    Home office is out of touch on how to handle a claim; staffing models are unrealistic.
    Be prepared to use every last day of your vacation time just to maintain any sort of sanity.
    If you make a mistake or struggle in one area of the job, expect it to be held against you year after year even after you have made the corrections in your handling. No forgiveness or understanding from supervisors or upper manangement.
    They force you to take an employee satisfaction survey 2 times per year but nothing changes when suggestions are made and if your supervisor finds out it was you that rated them poorly, expect to be on the naughty list for some time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Think back to when you handled claims and how time consuming a quality file is and add staff.
    Don't belittle or bully people for being honest in the engagement surveys.
    Pay people properly, when I was hired by a competitor, I received a starting salary that was a few thousand $$ MORE than I was being paid after 10+ years with Hartford
