    I have been working at Trinity Mirror full-time for more than 3 years


    The general sales workforce are as committed to the cause as they come. Good induction training!
    Some characters there and a general camaraderie when things are going good. Representing a brand like Trinity Mirror makes you feel proud, especially with the heritage of some of the brands. The company are doing their best and integrating digital advertising options to take the company further.
    At present, there is a good mix of loyal, experienced staff and new talent coming in to the company.
    Those who perform well are recognised and rewarded appropriately with cash awards and other benefits.


    Sales has always been a tough industry and nothing is different at Trinity Mirror.
    Even in a declining print industry, targets are still high and are often increased in order to appease more senior personnel at Canary Wharf.
    Generally the team managers are good, but there are a few "bad apples" who put their teams under unwarranted pressure towards the end of the month. Maybe some man-management courses are needed.
    On joining Trinity Mirror you are told "the customer always comes first", but in reality, customers are relentlessly contacted in order for sales to meet targets. Most sales staff resent this, as some firm business relationships have been built over the years and are put at risk. Many sales staff have commented that their customers sense an "air of desperation" near the end of the month....not good. It's all about "the targets"!
    A "must mention" is the annual "voluntary" anonymous staff survey. No changes since the last one and the general feeling is that they know who say's what, hence more neutral answers are given and true feelings not expressed.
    As mentioned on previous reviews, there is no communication between different departments often leading to last minute panic and arguments when close to print deadlines. Some business opportunities are also missed out on because of this.
    Many staff are looking to leave with lower-level managers jockeying for position when office politics raises it's ugly head, which can be quite often.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    There have been many changes (redundancies, streamlining, them what you want)over the years but the result is, Trinity Mirror is still a labouring dinosaur desperately trying to change without making up much ground. Please listen to your staff and they'll help you.
