105 Counselor jobs in Australia

What is the job outlook for Counselors?

    Powered by Glassdoor Economic Research

Counsellors differ from psychologists in that they focus on the prevention of mental health challenges, and their work is less grounded in research. They may work for schools, elderly care facilities and youth organisations. Demand for counsellors remains strong, driven by rising demand for the services of all mental health professionals including psychiatrists and social workers. Candidates can enter the field by taking a degree in a field like psychology, sociology, or criminology. This might also include additional practical training and work placements, which can make candidates more competitive.
