    I worked at Arrow Electronics

    Pros

I was very lucky to have great coworkers within my primary job duties and an excellent supervisor. I also enjoyed the input and support of most of my production floor leads.

    Cons

The company is inflexible and pays a low standardized wage to all non-degreed employees. Its benefits are prohibitively expensive and they show no regard for exceptional employees nor make any attempt to retain them where they do not meet a minimum criteria for term of current employment. Management does acknowledge performance and achievement verbally, but is out of touch with the employee needs at the ground level and often makes promises it does not keep or fails to document what it has offered to an employee in the course of his/her employment thus causing a lot of its own problems in supporting and communicating the companies needs to them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I related my opinions to the company and have a very specific non disclosure in effect and so will not relate anything which appears critical of them or their practices, nor offer any further advice. They were not receptive to it and in fact the effort impacted me quite negatively due to new management in my department. They were unable to see the dynamics in play between me and the department and had a limited view and interest in the quality demonstrated by me in the performance of my duties. The scope of concerns they were brought in to address did not include my position or needs as an employee. They saw it best to label me a problem since they could not verify what their previous team had offered and felt that since it violated the HR guidelines for employee advancement there was no obligation to address it. They offered me no further recourse to resolve their own mistake.

    Business Development Manager Interview

Anonymous Employee in Englewood, CO (US)
Anonymous Employee in Englewood, CO (US)
    Application Details

I applied online. The process took 3 daysinterviewed at Arrow Electronics in October 2014.

    Interview Details

Applied online. Within days a recruiter from HR contacted me via email to arrange an initial phone interview. Phone interview with HR lasted about 30 minutes. The very next day I had a phone interview with the hiring manager, which lasted just over an hour. The day after that I interviewed in-person at the Englewood, CO facility. All three interviews went smoothly, and I was convinced that this would be a great fit for my job and industry experience, skill sets and interests. Unfortunately, I never heard from them again, in spite of leaving several phone and email follow-ups with HR and the hiring manager. My take-away: In spite of their praise over my experience and background, and three very positive interviews totaling about 3 hours in length, they lost interest at the in-person interview when they learned that I am in my mid-50's.
