    I worked at CEB full-time for more than 3 years


    Good industry to work in and the company has more integrity to the customer than any I have worked for before.

    Great product, having worked in sales for many companies it is rare to have such a strong product to work with and one that genuinely effects companies ability to operate.


    Not much interest taken in developing individuals who have experience. This job is certainly for trainees and people who have little experience.

    Very strange environment where staff are scared of being themselves or saying anything which might get them in trouble.

    Too much self importance shown in the staff. Very junior members of the team think they are Bill Gates after a few sales. As above peers are scared to tell each other how it is so team members start getting massive egos and instead of constructively criticising their peers they resort to one-upmanship which makes the environment very stale.

    Leadership is very junior and often side with the company over their direct reports which gives the impression they don't really care! Again this speaks to the culture of personal gain rather than teamwork.

    Reviews are also bizarre!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Lead your team rather than thinking about your own career. Speak to people as their leader rather than school teachers! Don't be fake - most people are not stupid and you lose credibility!

    Application Details

    I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 days - interviewed at CEB in April 2011.

    Interview Details

    As a young person myself, was surprised (and relieved) to find that both my interviewers seemed even younger than me.

    Interview was fairly straight forward - they wanted to know what I knew about the organisation, what I knew about the role and why I thought I'd be successful.
    Interview was also quite behavioural - I was asked to discuss times where I'd dealt with things like rejection or difficult customers, and how I handled these situations.

    Where I believe they typically hold 2 rounds of live interviews, given that they had roles they needed to fill quickly and that both my managers were in the room, the hiring decision was made after that first interview.

    Process was surprisingly fast - received a call from the internal recruiter the next day, took the offer, and was in seat beginning training the following week.

    Note that the process has evolved somewhat, and there now is an online test before candidates progress to a live interview round.

    Interview Questions
    • Question that took me by surprise was 'sell your passion'. I was given time to decide on something I'm passionate about and then sell this to the interviewers in 60 seconds.   Answer Question
    Negotiation Details
    Being my first corporate role, I didn't think to negotiate, but don't get the sense that the contract was open for negotiation.
