I have been working at NCI Building Systems full-time

    Pros

My coworkers are amazing. They treat me like family and value my input. It makes coming to work an enjoyable experience. The company has phenomenal benefits which the company pays a good portion of. The pay is reasonable and there's plenty of room for advancement. They have a reasonable expectation when it comes to work-life balance. They really work hard to make quality improvements to make things better for the employees.

    Cons

Taking time off in the first 90 days is very challenging, but do-able if you're willing to be flexible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would love to see a PTO program replace the sick and vacation time policy. It would allow more flexibility for the employees.

    Territory Manager Interview

Anonymous Employee in Nicholasville, KY (US)
    Application Details

I applied online - interviewed at NCI Building Systems in October 2013.

    Interview Details

Applied via on line source. Was called in for an interview within 3 days. General Manager wanted to interview me for Sales Manager position. He thought I would better fit for the Territory Manager position and I agreed. Interview lasted about one hour. Prior to leaving I was given a brief tour of the plant. Interview went very well, at least I thought. Checked back in with General Manager one week later. He indicated they were in budget meetings and a decision would be reach in three to four weeks and I was still very much in consideration for position. Checked back again via email and phone and General Manger was not responding to my calls or emails. Very poor professionalism not to contact me back after being brought in for an interview.

NCI's buildings are quite a "steel." NCI Building Systems, also known as NCI Group, engineers, designs, manufactures, and distributes metal buildings and components (doors, roofs, walls, and trim) for non-residential construction markets in North America. It sells its products to contractors, developers, and builders. The group also provides steel coil coating, which is used by manufacturers of HVAC systems, lighting fixtures, and other products. NCI has about 30 manufacturing facilities in the US and Mexico; it also operates distribution and sales offices in the US and... More
