I have been working at Oxford University full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The tutorial systems are something you don't get any experience of elsewhere. The social life is also great, provided you have time. It opens the door to a lot of networking and careers events, you just have to capitalise on that on your time here

    Cons

Constant essay crisis, meaning that you alternate between crying and drinking and procrastinating. There truly is a lot of work involved and far more than other universities

I applied through college or university – interviewed at Oxford University.

    Interview Details

I applied through university and was invited to attend a group interview session. The interview involved teamwork, working to solve a problem and present the solution to the other interviewees. This involved delegating task between the group, communicating clearly, and being positive. We were told after the interview by phone whether or not we had been offered the position. We then attended a training session before the interview.

University of Oxford is a cornerstone of British higher education. The venerable university has about 20,000 students (including more than 11,000 undergraduates). Oxford also is home to 38 colleges, the celebrated Rhodes Scholarship, and the Oxford University Press. The university describes its colleges as autonomous units operating in a manner similar to the way individual states function in the US. Oxford's self-governing colleges select their own students and provide housing, meals, libraries, and recreation. The university offers a diverse range of study covering... More
