    I have been working at Sam's Club part-time (more than 3 years)


    - Depending on which market you work in, the pay can be decent for a retail job, but not necessarily adequate for the number of responsibilities you have.
    - Plenty of opportunities to move up quickly (partially due to high turnover)
    - Very good family culture--associates treat you as part of a bigger team/family.


    - Turnover is extremely high
    - If you don't actively seek out training, don't expect to get any
    - Too much bureaucracy. Upper management doesn't realize how many responsibilities we have on the front lines, so they require time consuming computer training which doesn't help at all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Focus on associate retention. Pay a decent wage (i.e. comparable to your closest competitor, Costco).

    I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Sam's Club.

    Interview Details

    3 panel interview proces, generally including your district manager and 2 other general managers from company prepared interview documents. The questions are situational to include questions that start with " Tell me about a time when...." they will include leadership questions as well as integrity and experience.

    • Tell me about a time when you had a stretch budget to meet and you knew that at your current trend you were not going to make budget. How were you able to meet the budget while keeping the integrity of the company in tact, as well as maintaining positive moral with your managers and associates.   View Answer

    I was a new General manager at the time so i did not negotiate salary. I accepted the salary as lined out for a non-metro club.
