I have been working at US Strategic Command as a contractor for more than 10 years

    Pros

While everything is heavily dependent on what directorate and division you're in, overall I've found STRATCOM to be supportive of work-life balance. Most leaders are willing to help members and employees find a good fit for their talents, grow their expertise, and stretch their abilities.

    Cons

In some areas of the Command, it's difficult or impossible to see the results of your work. This sometimes aggravates the usual reluctance to hold civilian employees accountable for achieving results.
As with any military organization, leadership changes and reorganizations frequently disrupt work, from minor tasks to major projects.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to support resiliency initiatives. You have some hard decisions coming with mandated personnel cuts... Choose carefully whether to retain people or positions.
