    Salary is an issue

I have been working at Accountemps

    Pros

Working for Accountemps is great as far as the people being there to support you but the salary is insulting. In these poor economic times, people have no choice and I believe the temp agencies know it.

    Cons

Again, the compensation is actually insulting to me. I do believe people are being taken advantage of in these economic times. If you are offered something, anything, you have to take it.

I have been working at Accountemps as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

There is a lot of time off between jobs. If you are a student, you will have plenty of free time between contract assignments to do your homework without interruption.

    Cons

They take much to long, if at all of following through for confirmation to let you know if you have a job that they asked if you where interested filling.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please have a better follow through policy.

I worked at Accountemps as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Made great effort to find me work.
Landed permanent position on second job placement.

    Cons

After finding me work, only called when they wanted inside info about client comp (like what we're they looking for in next temp they hired).
Told company I was working with, a complaint I specifically told them not to share.
Charged the company a lot of money and paid me crap.
Client company low balled me in salary because they knew temp agency wasn't paying me much.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have more concern for those working for you.

Great service providing work/life balance for others - but none for ourselves!

I worked at Accountemps full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great co-workers, offering a professional service that is value-driven and easy to sell.

    Cons

10.5 hour days with no lunch while we sell "work/life balance" to clients. Base pay is so low (with no commission guarantee) that true professionals and family people (anyone other than a recent college grad) can't afford to take it. It takes over a year to make real money. Hence there is a ton of turnover.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide some type of commission guarantee for the first 9-12 months so you can get high-end people who will stay.

I worked at Accountemps full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I learned many new things while consulting as an accountant. My recruiters were wonderful, communicative and listened to what I had to say every time.

    Cons

If you don't interview well, or don't like having a fast paced, dynamic work environment, then consulting isn't for you. I averaged 4 months per project and had to start working from day 1. There was rarely time for formal training, which was the nature of my position. I loved it, many may not.
