Eden Prairie, MN (US)

Former Employee – worked at Aerotek as a contractor for more than a year

ProsThey stay in contact and actively work to find new positions once your current contract ends. They work hard to make sure your contract experience is enjoyable.

ConsIn this economy it is tough to find good paying contract positions when you possess rare skills and education.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to work with employers to ensure that they hold up their end of the bargain when posting jobs. I've experienced that some employers remove job postings before they are filled.

Piscataway, NJ (US)

Former Employee – worked at Aerotek full-time for more than a year

ProsTeam support and training for professional development. Goal oriented company culture and team building. Opportunity to gain professional and life skills.

ConsThe commission structure for recruiters makes it difficult to make money because it favors the account managers. Also recruiters are assigned an account managers and industry and never change so they are forced to work on the same sales persons business's over and over regardless of how profitable the positions are or how easy they are to fill.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat the recruiters the most respect because they are the root of your business

Sarasota, FL (US)

Current Employee – been working at Aerotek full-time for less than a year

ProsAerotek is the largest short term contract provider in the United States. Their job search website allows you to look at all positions which are currently avaiable. They are well organized and responsive in answering all your questions.

ConsThe health benefits offerings are only available to you as you are employed with Aerotek. If you have finished your contract and you are unable to seamlessly transfer into a new contract you need to signup for Cobra which is an additional cost.

Advice to Senior ManagementIn todays economic climate it has become necessary to become flexible in locating employment and shopping for the necessary health benefits. It would be of great benefit to your employees if there was a longer range plan of benefits based on the accumulated hours you have worked for Aerotek.

Braintree, MA (US)

Former Employee – worked at Aerotek full-time for less than a year

ProsGreat learning experiences, real world business experience, good salary right out of college.

ConsManager's attitude, little to no commission, respect for junior employees. I spent 4 years in the Military, one being in a war zone and was treated as a child upon hire. Being several years older than most Managers and having more life experience that can be difficult to being "talked down" to.
You are expected to make 100+ phone calls a day. The job is to put people to work, so if you put 5 people to work a week, they as you why you didn't make 500 calls. If you make 500 calls, they ask why you didn't put anyone to work. Can be frustrating and the threshold for commission is quite long. Turnover rate is 4-6 months per person on average.
Also, being a younger office, there is always mental and sexual drama between co-workers.
The hours are awful. Work day is 7:30-6pm, that's roughly 53 hours. My work day was 7-7, as you are frowned upon if you arrive before 7:15 or leave before 6:30. Weekends also apply in busy seasons. A lot of "unwritten rules".

Advice to Senior ManagementImprove training exercises. Hire older professionals that have a proven track record, instead of college kids that quit in their first 6 months. A lot of companies don't want to deal with a "sales executive" that is 23 years old.

ProsGreat beginer job, opportunity to learn a lot about business. There is the opportunity to make a decent living if you are working with a good team.

ConsAs Aerotek continues to grow leadership is implementing more and more ways to micromanage. Aerotek hires mostly out of college so everyone is young and loves to do happy hours and social events, if you have a family this may be hard as you must put in countless hours into the job to be successfull

Former Employee – worked at Aerotek as a contractor for more than 3 years

ProsAerotek kept me busy with little down time.

ConsOne position was only suppose to go for approx. 6 months and turned into a 2 1/2 year position based on my performance. Was unable to get a pay raise during this time, no paid vacation or sick leave. I did however, after 2 years get paid holidays.

ProsThey had good jobs and knew a lot of companies in the city. It allowed me to interview for a lot of different place.

ConsIT can be hard to get responses from them sometimes. Account managers are working with so many different people, they occasionally get confused.
