Current Employee – been working at Ameren as an intern for less than a year
Pros – Great pay and benefits for the area. Co-op/interns are given a lot of freedom
Cons – Co-op/interns aren't always kept busy, I find myself constantly asking for more work. Some of the work is very tedious and boring.

Current Employee – been working at Ameren full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Stable work atmosphere, people are nice, you are treated with respect. If you do your work, you will not have any problems due to Union environment .
Cons – Union environment, merit based raises are mostly non-existent.
Advice to Senior Management – Treat union employees like they are responsible adults. 2-15 min breaks and a 30 minute lunch. You can not combine these. It's kind of ridiculous. Depending on the department the work can be monotonous.

Current Employee – been working at Ameren full-time for less than a year
Pros – -Outstanding benefits and salary package
-New fitness center on-site--membership fees are negligible
-Decent cafeteria
-Flexible work hours (can start anywhere between 6am and 9am)
-Very friendly people and a great working environment
-Committed to diversity
-Lots of opportunity within the company
-Very good work/life balance
Cons – -Like any big company, change can be slow and can be resisted, but leadership is making a huge effort to change the "this is the way we've always done it" mentality
-The software programs the company uses are extremely archaic and disorganized, which is frustrating and hurts productivity. They really need to modernize the way they do things (i.e., having digital files instead of paper files), but I think they're working on it.

Former Employee – worked at Ameren full-time
Pros – Internal Audit management successfully executes a value add philosophy, investing in the growth of all team members. The majority of the organization is committed to their roles, although it is not generationally diverse. On the other hand, this provides a great deal of opportunity for promotion. Overall, a very positive work experience.
Cons – Because of budget constraints, the IA team must rely heavily on consultants for completion of testing, which leads to a low retention of knowledge.

Former Employee – worked at Ameren
Pros – Exceptional compensation and benefits-premium pay package with very little effort required
established company; secure in what they are doing-no pressure to always do more
Cons – Disparate treatment for employees on regulated vs unregulated sides of business; unregulated side treated as poor step children-don't have funding to maintain equipment but are still required to participate in all company programs-even to the point that they layoff people but still participate in employee safety fair that costs thousands--for a 1 day "picnic"
Advice to Senior Management – Try to focus on making the business better; investing in equipment and people instead of always working on ways for you to look good, win awards based on work of others and regularly enhancing your own pay, bonuses and perks.
