I have been working at Applied Materials full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Interesting technology and great coworkers that have become friends over the years. The compensation is competitive with other businesses within the industry and the benefits package is above average.

    Cons

As the company has grown and executive management has changed the focus has been to reduce costs and maximize profits and shareholder returns. Some benefits and programs have suffered because of this.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My primary advise to upper management would be to remember the balance between employee satisfaction and maximizing returns. Some budget cuts have effected moral, but done little in the way of cost reduction in the grand scheme of things.

I have been working at Applied Materials full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Very relaxed company with great benefits. There is plenty of opportunity to move around within the company as well as opportunity for advancement. The people are great and are very diverse in most ways.

    Cons

Most employees are over 40, so there are very few young faces. There is very little training and the campus is located right next to a landfill. It's very easy for your work-life balance to weigh in favor of work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would like to see more young people working there and some sort of training implemented.
