Former Employee – worked at Asia Pulp & Paper full-time for more than 3 years

ProsChallenging job for professional sales types. Good view of the world class production facilities in the paper industry. Perspecitve gained on the Asian approach to business through the eyes of a privately held family owned mega company.

ConsIndexes used to judge sales performance do not coincide with market realities. Products that are to be world class must pass criteria for all markets. In the US the federal standards are difficult for APP to meet since they will push the limits on qualifications regarding product acceptability under US law. If on commission you will not get paid until the customer pays his invoices no matter what the holdup may be. Therefore you will not get paid or any credit for booking sales no matter what the issues will be with customer credit, product quality, delivery service or market conditions.

Advice to Senior ManagementRecognize the markets you are in and behave more like the domestic competitors if you expect to succeed.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
