Former Employee – worked at Avery Dennison full-time
Pros – Global organization with world class talent, progressive learning environment with strong benefit package, opportunity to advance, diverse talent and willingness to develop strengths
Cons – Large company with a level of bureaucracy common in Fortune 500 companies. Turnover rate is relatively high especially in mid to upper management levels with typical political alliances.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop shedding talented managers with diverse ideas. Focus on those who deliver results versus those who talk about the next big plan for recovering.

Pros – Awesome people here; very easy to work with, good team work, low stress
Cons – It's a large corporation. You see where all your works goes and why it matters, but at the same time it seems that the company does not know where it is going, or you don't know where you are moving.
Advice to Senior Management – Personal Reviews of status of projects, better idea where team members fit in.

Former Employee – worked at Avery Dennison full-time for more than a year
Pros – Good benefits and bonus program.
Cons – Upper management does not have a grasp of what is happening on the day to day levels of the organization. Low levels of severance when employees are rif'ed.
Advice to Senior Management – Make sound business and cost based decisions, even if they are difficult. Doing what is easiest for management on a daily basis is not the way to conduct business.

Former Employee – worked at Avery Dennison full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Very good training ground. Thisis a good job as your first one out of biz school. Very focused on cross functional teams. Will help you become a general manager or entrepreneur at some point in your career.
Cons – After about 5 years it tends to be "up or out" and for 90% it means out. It gets snarky and political as the pyramid gets very narrow very quickly. Pay is lower than 1st tier marketing firms like Pepsi.

Former Employee – worked at Avery Dennison full-time
Pros – Used to be a friendly, team-oriented company but that changed in the last 3 years. Good benefits in terms of 401K, medical plans.
Cons – Micro managed, political, no retirement plan. I would not by stocks anymore in this company. the CEO will take a large raise and stock option while the workers get negligible or no raises. Company is divesting and downsizing. They just cut 25% of Corporate, are trying to sell 1/3 or the company (Office Products - this is public knowledge) and they keep cutting the IT departments frequently and working them like slaves. No real future here if you want to work in those areas.
Advice to Senior Management – Suggest consideration of your employees, rather than just how much profit you can pocket. We call it "Slavery" Dennison for a reason.
