I worked at Avery Dennison full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Good benefits
    Private health care
    Pension
    Good maternity scheme

Good work place for someone who just wants to be in a comfortable position with little aspirations.

    Cons

    No chances of career development
In the UK offices of certain divisions things are very set in their ways. It is made clear that you have been hired to do a job and that's the job they want you for and nothing else.
Very disappointing for young driven people.

Former Employee - Sales in Los Angeles, CA (US)

I worked at Avery Dennison full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent company to work for and invest in as a career with opportunities for advancement. Professional and supportive managers and co-workers with a can do attitude that creates an environment to get the job done. Collaborative and team based work environment. Some of the best people you can ask for to work with. Very ethical company. Great healthcare and 401K benefits.

    Cons

Work-life balance is basically mostly work so expect to put in the extra hours if you are in the field. This is not always bad thing especially if you enjoy what you do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Since the Avery Graphics division was merged with Avery LPM there has been some "teething issues" meaning that the LPM group still needs to fully understand how the Graphics division functions, it's challenges and opportunities, and be open to constructive input from it's employees.

I worked at Avery Dennison full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

not a lot of high pressure, good people to work with

    Cons

they fall behind with technology, lack of feasibility in project management (biting off more than they can chew), disregard for process improvement over pet projects, lack of research before making big business decisions

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make less use of consultants that know less about your business and structure than inside personnel. Learn the benefits of cost effective process improvement regardless of long term uncertainty structure changes.

I have been working at Avery Dennison as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

This is a great place to start your career with plenty of room to grow and relocate (if you so wish). As a large company, there are decent benefits and compensation. The work environment is driven and leadership pushes for results.

    Cons

The higher up-the-ladder you look, the more stressed and overworked the employees become. Everyone is very busy with their own schedule (lots of meetings), that the culture feels anxious.
