I have been working at Banana Republic

    Pros

The title of my review says it all: my company. I feel that my work is important, I believe in the brand, and I own my stores business and customer experience results. I have been with BR since 2010 and have received 3 promotions. They encourage growth and competition, celebrate success, and promote a happy work environment. I am proud of myself, my store, my district peers, and district managers. They are professional, but not stuffy. We have fun and customers recognize our love of fashion. Full time employees get a lot of PTO that they can use whenever they like. Employee discount is significant and unlimited!

    Cons

My con is actually a pro- sometimes the problem solving and adapting to change can be challenging. But everyone needs a challenge to grow and learn!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As BR enters a new era, keep communicate open and timely. I know being reactionary is part of retail, but I suggest being understanding of schedule making and work load.

I have been working at Banana Republic part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great customer service, great people to work with, great discount, great vibes. great quality products and store.

    Cons

No cons really in the company, there are a few managers and management decisions that I disagree with. Too many sales in the company.... kind of desperate. I like the work environment more than the company's personality, aesthetics and clothing. Too pushy with banana cards.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward those who consistently try to do the best they can.

I have been working at Banana Republic

    Pros

I enjoy working there and I see endless possibilities for growth with in the company. I was able to learn a lot because I took the advantage of what was offered to me.

    Cons

It's always going to be about opening cards no matter where you work in retail. All I can say is to be confident when doing so.

I have been working at Banana Republic part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I really enjoy the people I work with- it's really great to be surrounded by smart, creative people who love fashion as much as I do. Managers are generally reasonable and the $9/hr wage is a better than a lot of other retail positions.

    Cons

You have to be diligent about managing your own time. If managers are impressed with you and the work you do in the store, they'll schedule you for as many hours as possible or try to coax you to have more time available. For me, having more of a balance between work and life was important to me and I eventually had to have a conversation with management to strike more of a balance.

I worked at Banana Republic part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly staff, decent pay, helpful in learning, great employee discount

    Cons

Part-time doesn't get many hours over the summer due to the high number of new part-time hires, in order to compensate for college students leaving.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None. They were great at making everyone feel comfortable and happy to come to work. Encouraged a family feel.

I have been working at Banana Republic part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

For a part time job, it's great to be making more than minimum wage. The Gap Company really knows how to take care of their employees. Paid breaks and fair frequency of breaks.

    Cons

Hours between employees can sometimes be difficult. Personal growth is difficult at times.
