Former Employee – worked at Bank of New York Mellon full-time for more than a year
Pros – The career development is really good established, as there are many training programmes that you can attend to get new skills. The work-life balance is supported well, and there are some exciting opportunities for volunteering.
Cons – The remuneration was much less compared to the industry average. It depends on location, but some of the people didn't have enough educational background though were doing job well.
Advice to Senior Management – The company could find better employees from overseas by offering work permit.

Current Employee – been working at Bank of New York Mellon full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Down to Earth atmosphere, can gain insight on numerous financial instruments, will see a solid foundation into the real world of finance & accounting from a custodial point of view. Tuition reimbursement available as long as other benefits.
Cons – A Limited focus on individuals development tracks. Paths and opportunities are present, BUT there is a lack of both time and guidance from upper level employees in assisting one to meet their goals. Success does happen but it's sometimes difficult to get there. Salary is par at best. Dedication isn't rewarded and poor performance isn't acknowledged enough.
Advice to Senior Management – Step 1 - Management should become more involved in what the staff they manage does on a daily basis. Step 2 - Managers should praise where deserved and increase awareness to those whom aren't meeting expectations.

Current Employee – been working at Bank of New York Mellon full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Diversified work force - global. Generally competitive rates for salary. If you get aligned with a senior executive you are set for life - so managing up is critical. If you like to pretend your a wall street executive - this is the place for you.
Cons – Culture is very difficult -more political then most. NYC centric - your either in or out - no in between. Very poor senior leadership - no trust between managers and departments - its almost like the firm likes that culture. Very tough place to work.
Advice to Senior Management – No real leadership. I am amazed that the Board of Directors is still sitting on their hands watching what is going on within this firm. As our competitors are passing us up - it becomes more obvious that there is a serious problem at the highest levels of this firm. BRING IN NEW LEADERSHIP

Former Employee – worked at Bank of New York Mellon full-time for more than a year
Pros – BNY Mellon provided excellent benefits and a work environment that rewarded good work. Team-based work environment. Supervisors were supportive and encouraging.
Cons – The job is quite specific so there is the risk of not being able to move to another team later down the road. Job was routine-based and could become boring.

Former Employee – worked at Bank of New York Mellon full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – amazing education benefits pays 80-100% of bac or masters, great medical benefits with local health system, some departments are pretty laid back, well funded training , i personally did not have a bad manager, 2 promotions in 3 years.
Cons – outsourcing is a serious problem hear, pay is not great at all especially for entry level positions, mobility up in some departments is hard ...example i submitted to like 25 positions and got 5 interviews and some were lateral. lots of open positions but HR could take like 1 to 2 months to call back for interview so don't expect a quick response after submitting your resume. Job descriptions very vague and kinda over analytic.
Advice to Senior Management – HR.....call back quicker. better job descriptions and that should lead to better pay gauge on positions
